If I were a lizard at night
Prowling round calling sound crickets be my delight
Snacking on bugs basking on rock slugs are a treat
 Insect meat These things that I eat
Crawling through holes cold blooded no souls
 I think not

If I was a hundredth my size and looked at myself through butterfly eyes
I'd fly through the flowers by day
I'd pollinate and celebrate the butterfly way

I got a wing like watercolor rain
Fluttering in China and in Maine a hurricane
I sort of miss the caterpillar bliss
I've transformed now but still I reminiscence

I miss the way hiding from blue jays
I miss the way the mist used to play
and hit the sunshine 
and make a rainbow glow

I wonder who I'd be ?
What life would really mean ?
What I would see is it real and a dream ?

Say I were a snake in the sand
Slithering whispering living in no man's land
Smelling with tongue side winding in the sunlight
Bouncing from the moon to the call of the loon
Stalking the shrew in the midnight sun
See a mouse by its heat swallow whole become one
This is how it's done as a reptile
No ears no fears in the Nile with a smile
