Nun ist es endlich soweit: Nach über 3 Jahren ohne Punchmix lassen wir unser heißgeliebte Mixserie wieder aufleben. In Episode 35 präsentieren wir zwei Urgesteine der Thüringer Drum&Bass Szene. Musikalische Leitung für das 65 minütige Set übernimmt DJ Kobee aus Jena, der durch die Vocals von MC Reef begleitet wird.

Kobee's Start in die Welt des Drum&Bass begann im Jahr 2006 mit dem Kauf  und dem Sammeln zahlreicher DnB-Singles und Alben, damals noch traditionell auf Vinyl. Gut zwei Jahre später begann er seine DJ-Karriere und machte sich rasch einen Namen im ganzen Land. Angefangen vom Kassablanca in Jena, über die Distillery in Leipzig, bis hin zum Gängeviertel in Hamburg - die Liste der Clubs, in denen er zu Gast war, ist lang. Darüber hinaus bereicherten zahlreiche Festivals und Radioshows seine DJ-Laufbahn.

Sein Sound erstreckt sich über die gesamte Bandbreite des Drum & Bass. Auf Partys bringt er die Menge gerne mit dem klassischen Jump Up Style zum Tanzen, aber auch deepe Roller und der ein oder andere Jungle Tune gehören zu seiner Selektion. Das Ergebnis sind abwechslungsreiche Sets, die jeden DnB-Fan begeistern.

Neben seiner Tätigkeit als DJ engagiert sich Kobee auch als Veranstalter und Promoter. Im Jahr 2013 gründete er gemeinsam mit DJs aus der Jenaer Drum & Bass-Szene die Veranstaltungsreihe Bass Up?, die bis heute als etablierte Partyreihe in der Thüringer Szene gilt. Sie findet seit 2013 in wechselnden Locations in Jena und Erfurt statt.

Zusätzlich fungiert Kobee als Moderator und Gastgeber der Radiosendung "RE - Broken Beats" auf Radio Electronica. In seiner Show bietet er lokalen DJs eine Plattform und hat nebenbei auch zahlreiche internationale Größen der Drum & Bass-Szene zu Gast, darunter Künstler wie Riya oder BCee von Spearhead Records.

MC Reef ist auf eine ganz eigene Art und Weise eine Legende in der Thüringer Drum&Bass Szene und nicht zuletzt daran Schuld, dass ein Teil der Punchblogger zum Drum&Bass gefunden hat. Als MC und Vocalist begann der Erfurter 2001 in den Kellern der Erfurter Clubszene seine unverkennbare, bassige Stimme über die DJ-Sets von Kaneda, Cat, Aloo und Co. zu setzten - und das mit Erfolg. Mit seinen Vocals treibt er die Menge an, ohne dass die Musik an Raum und Bedeutung verliert. Seine Worte ergeben oft eine eigene Sprache, bis zur philosophischen Tiefsinnigkeit, die sich in die Tunes und Tracks der DJ's integriert. Reef fühlt sich dort zuhause, wo Crowd und DJ zusammen verschmelzen und das bis heute.

Im Punchmix präsentiert Kobee eine Mischung aus tiefgängigen Drum&Bass Rollern, deepen Liquid Tunes und den ein oder anderen Klassiker. Hier ist für jeden etwas dabei, egal ob man auf die härtere oder die weichere DnB-Schiene steht. In Ergänzung mit Reef's Vocals, die sehr dezent platziert sind und das Set perfekt ergänzen, bietet der Punchmix 35 viel Abwechslung bei stätigem Tiefgang. Entstanden ist das Set zur "Bassment" Party im Erfurter Klubhaus Kickerkeller.

Elliot Payne aka Madcap started DJing in the early 90's after being exposed to music since his early childhood, being brought up in a musican family. In 1995 he started working at local record shop Buzz Records in High Wycombe and witnessed the worldwide explosion of Jungle D&B. 
In 2002 he won the Movement / Technics DJ Competition which led to more and more bookings throughout the UK and to promoting his own local events featuring artists such as Goldie, Randall, Nookie and Break to name but a few.
Since 2006 Madcap has had an impressive run of releases on labels such as LTJ Bukem’s Good Looking Records, Randall’s Mac II, Liquid V, AKO Beatz and Soul Deep amongst others. Furthermore, he remixed several classics such as the seminal 1993 Moving Shadow classic ‘You Got Me Burning Up’ and Nookie's sparse jazz hardstep lovechild 'Drum, A Bass & A Piano’.

In 2013 Madcap relaunched the pioneering jungle label Creative Wax which is co-run alongside his old friend, legendary DJ Pulse. Together they have released several new tracks, selected back catalogue on vinyl as well as new and retro merchandise.

2015 saw Madcap begin his monthly ‘Creative Wax Show’ on http://futuresoundsradio.com where you can catch him on the last Sunday of each month playing fresh new D&B, Jungle & Old School. Other recent studio projects include working with artists such as Furney, Digital, Jaybee (Mac II), Paul SG (Jazzsticks) and many more to come.
