Madloch has never been one to fit neatly into a box. As a DJ he thrives on range and adaptability, moving fluidly between ambient soundscapes, dub techno, electronica, deep house, progressive house, breakbeats and beyond. It is this eclectic spirit that has carried him from intimate clubs to fashion industry showcases, from underground European residencies to marathon all-night journeys across the Americas.

His formative years in the early 2000s were shaped by residencies in Belgium and Holland, where long weekends behind the decks forged the patience and perspective that define his sets today. For Madloch, the art of DJing lies in storytelling, something that cannot be captured in a compressed one-hour slot. The longer the night, the deeper the connection, with an eight-hour performance at Miami’s legendary Do Not Sit On The Furniture standing as one of many reminders of his love for extended narratives.

By the time international touring beckoned, Madloch had already established himself as a trusted selector at home. Tours followed across North, Central, and South America, as well as every major European capital, often with Sound Avenue label nights anchoring his appearances. These experiences revealed an artist who is not only versatile, but equally at ease guiding a packed dancefloor as curating atmospheric journeys for more unconventional stages.

Beyond the booth, Madloch has built one of underground electronic music’s most respected label families. What began with Sound Avenue has expanded into a group of successful imprints, including 3rd Avenue, Crossfade Sounds, Daydreamers, Future Avenue, and more. Together, they have become a home for both established voices and emerging artists, with Madloch curating compilations that offer new talent the opportunity to grow alongside industry heavyweights. This balance between nurturing the next generation and working with revered figures has defined his role not just as a DJ and producer, but as a cultivator of scenes.

As a producer, Madloch’s work has attracted the attention of some of the industry’s most celebrated names. His music has been remixed by Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile, Eelke Kleijn, Petar Dundov, Budakid, Tim Engelhardt, Charles Webster, Dmitry Molosh, Cid Inc., Sascha Dive, King Unique, Martin Roth, Nhar, and many others, ensuring his sound continues to resonate far beyond his own discography.

For all his accomplishments, what sets Madloch apart is his refusal to be confined by a single style or context. When Belgian DJ/Producer, Madloch, agreed to our guest mix invitation, we knew we would be in for a treat.

Madloch has been into the melodic side of house and techno since the late 90’s. It was around that time that he decided to learn to spin vinyl. By the early 2000’s, he had begun to play to audiences across his native Belgium, opening for the likes of Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Matthew Dekay, and others. As his career progressed, Madloch traveled to gigs across Europe, North and South America. 

Soon, the production bug got him; here, his first real break came with his progressive track “Mitinique”, garnering support by none other than Hernan Cattaneo himself. A year later, Madloch created the now popular label, Sound Avenue. Indeed, this label became so busy, that he started two sub-labels, 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds. He has collaborated with many arists over the past decade, including Cid Inc, Lonya, Roger Martinez and others.

Here at Institution, we have been following Madloch’s productions and mixes for the past several years. His blend of progressive, organic, and deep house is always unique, and always satisfies. This exclusive mix is no exception.

It's been a while since I recorded my last mix. I know you've been waiting, so here's my way of saying thanks for your patience - a fresh mix that rolls on for a solid 3.5 hours. Get ready to dive into a musical journey that's longer, deeper, and packed with more vibes than ever before.

The mix starts slowly at 113bpm with the beautiful track "Trust" from Dorisburg.  The mix then takes a turn into deeper & dubbier territory with tunes from a whole crew of artists including Kora (CA), Anton Lanski, Pablo Bolivar & Sensual Physics, Krissky, Lindamann, and Markus Masuhr. Each one delivers their unique flavor, building up the mood track by track.

Moving into the second hour, the energy picks up, shifting into groovier and housier territory. Keep your ears open for killer tracks from Manuel Tur, Thierry Tomas, and not just one, but two tracks from Josh Wink's new EP on Freerange Records. It's Josh showing us a whole different side of his sound.

Crossing the two-hour mark, we're hitting the big ones. Roy Rosenfeld's massive hit "Kali" and the new single from &ME and Black Coffee, "The Rapture Pt.III", are the standouts in this section. They get the energy right up there, followed by two deep progressive tracks from Brian Cid: Cachimbo + Sabado De Corporan.

We're closing this set out with some breakbeats from Paul Baule!

Born out of Madloch's re-discovered passion for cassettes, a love that began in the early ‘90s, ‘Tape From The Dub' marks the first ever physical release for Crossfade Sounds. Established in 2012, the Sound Avenue affiliate has become a respected platform for the deeper realms of electronica, house and techno, often focusing on the dubbier spectrums of these genres. Now celebrated for their unwavering commitment to the style, Crossfade Sounds unveils their first cassette release, a project which is the culmination of a careful selection process which spanned the better part of a year. Featuring a cohesive blend of established artists and up and coming talents, the collection is an international affair, showcasing music from Belgium, Germany, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States. Reinforcing the label's pledge to dub sonics, each track was given a stellar analog master by Subnode, who alongside frequent studio partner and Crossfade Sounds label boss Madloch, also contributed to the collection. Madloch, Subnode - Closing Cycles [Crossfade Sounds]

It’s been a while since my last mix, but better late than never! This time, I start off slow with some ambient and electronica gems from artists like Soela, Luis León, Unseener, and Knopha. As the mix progresses, the energy builds with deeper house grooves from producers such as Kora (CA), Wuachuma, and Lis Sarroca, before diving into the sounds of legends like Sebastian Mullaert, Acid Pauli, Viken Arman, and Bushwacka.

In the middle and second half, things take a harder turn with heavier breakbeats and (melodic) techno from artists like Madben and Radio Slave. This mix captures the essence of an all-night set, condensed into a compact 4-hour journey featuring some of my favorite tracks from 2024.

Crossfade Sounds revisits Closing Cycles by Belgian duo Madloch & Subnode, inviting three distinctive artists to reimagine the track for a new EP. Originally featured in March 2025 as part of the label's first-ever physical release, the Tape From The Dub cassette compilation, the original stood out for its atmospheric depth and subtle melodic movement, reflecting the duo's inventive approach to electronic storytelling.

Now the piece returns in three unique reinterpretations from an international cast. Rheinkalk from Germany takes the track into deep experimental electronica, exploring texture and space in an abstract yet spellbinding way. Avid Sequence from Malta offers a fresh drum & bass perspective, injecting rhythm and fluid energy while keeping the emotional core intact. Closing the package, Deepdrome from South Korea crafts a finely tuned dub techno version, balancing hypnotic groove with warm, immersive sonics.

With these new remixes, Closing Cycles expands beyond its original form, bringing fresh dimensions to a work that has already become a special part of the Crossfade Sounds catalogue.

The last 5 years has seen Dominique Heyninck aka Madloch in constant motion. The Belgian artist discovered electronic music in the early nineties and has been enthralled with it ever since. His early days as a local DJ in Antwerp have led him to heights that he couldn't have imagined at the time. After creating the Sound Avenue imprint in 2011 Madloch has been on a momentous rise through the electronic music underground. The label which holds a meticulous discography of 48 releases now embodies two subsidiaries (Crossfade Sounds and 3rd Avenue) under its wing and each has become a benchmark for musical quality. 2015 promises to be Sound Avenue's most triumphant year yet with a bevy of intriguing projects already in the pipeline.

Artist Info: 
Beginning in the 90s as a clubber first, Madloch has hewn a considerable career in Dance Music. As a DJ travelling the World he has honed his skills and can easily move the crowds at any time of the night transitioning easily between styles and genres. 

Realising quickly that the music industry was changing, Madloch began to make his own music, frstly as half of Mitinique and later as a solo artist. He also began a record label to showcase some of the music he was receiving on a weekly basis. 

That label, Sound Avenue, was the real catalyst in his career and from it came a globally-enjoyed radio show on Proton and two sub-labels, 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds. Still managing to release tracks of his own as well as remixes for the best producers in the scene, Madloch is only now reaching his potential. And there’s plenty more to come.

With all this label work, it’s amazing to find that Madloch still has time to produce his own tracks. Ever the humble artist, by his own admission he’s as proud of the artists who have remixed his tracks – Petar Dundov, King Unique, Martin Roth, Cid Inc, James Teej - as the music itself. Released across his own imprints and others such as Hookah Records, Particles, MNL and Magician On Duty, Madloch’s considered and musically diverse productions regularly fnd their way into the charts and sets of the Progressive A-List, and has allowed him to play a range of gigs all over the World even some for the Fashion industry across Europe. He is also in great demand as a remixer with tracks for Donatello, Roger Martinez and Lonya recently released. 

Not at all bad for a quiet, well-spoken chap from Belgium, who like many of his contemporaries has chosen to lead a life less ordinary: the life of the sonic artist.

This was my first post-Covid'84 gig! A +5h set at the beautiful Castle in Tielen, Kasterlee.  Unfortunately, dancing is illegal in Belgium at the moment,  so I did a longer warm-up than usual. You can expect a journey from ambient/piano music to electronica, leftfield, deep & progressive house & a few classics.

18 September I'll play another "allnighter" at this location!

Madloch 5h-set @ tZomert (Kasterlee Belgium) (2020 09 04)

Our next podcast comes from the creator of Sound Avenue, Crossfade Sounds & 3rd Avenue, and all-around hard-working and humble dude, Madloch.

Bio "We become DJs for different reasons. For many, it’s about sharing their record collections because the DJ booth becomes a place to express themselves in a way the rest of their life seldom caters for. Some use it to meet girls or score free drugs and for a select few, there is simply nothing else they could ever see themselves do. In Madloch’s case, it was the natural progression of an ever-growing love for a new music style he was first exposed to in the early 90s - Progressive House. He yearned for that life less ordinary and by ’97, was deep into his musical obsession having collected mix tapes from his favourite DJs and started to buy vinyl to learn to DJ himself. From these solid foundations, he began playing to audiences across Belgium, which, by the beginning of the 00s, included some high profile residencies where he could warm up for his heroes, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Matthew Dekay and more.

Over time, this lead onto gigs across Europe and tours to North, Central and South America where he could play longer sets which gave him a chance to really flex his musical muscles across multiple genres and styles from chill out and deep house to progressive and beyond. “ My first Argentina tour was in November 2015. ” He tells me, “ This was one of my biggest goals ever, touring the the greatest clubbing country of the world. Now it’s already a tradition to go back there every winter! ” As the new millennium began, Madloch realised he needed to add to his DJing. He needed a new string to add to his bow and began to explore music production. After years of honing his skills and forging a direction with his music, his first real break came in 2010. The newly formed ‘Mitinique’ burst onto the progressive scene with their debut release ‘Saturday’, earning early support from El Maestro himself. Hernan Cattaneo played and charted the Eelke Kliejn remix, which was unreleased at the time for many months. Spurred on by this success, a year later the idea of a new label was tabled and Sound Avenue was born.

Quickly climbing the ranks of the progressive elite with the help of some exceptional releases, the new label closed out the final quarter of 2011 as one of the most hyped imprints of the year having achieved several well deserved #1 spots on Release Promos’ Hype chart as well as a few Beatport homepage features. Interestingly, as the label skyrocketed, so did Madloch’s DJ career with the launch of the Sound Avenue radio show. He broadcast internationally to destinations as diverse as Russia, Mexico and India garnering attention from internet radio giants, Proton who added ‘Sound Avenue with Madloch’ to their already impressive portfolio which included ‘Transitions’ with John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo’s ‘Resident’ show. Success breeds success, so as the label grew in stature some of the World’s best producers have contributed to the Sound Avenue sound, such that it’s been necessary to start to two sub-labels - 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds.

Not at all bad for a quiet, well-spoken chap from Belgium, who like many of his contemporaries has chosen to lead a life less ordinary: the life of the sonic artist."

Madloch has never been one to fit neatly into a box. As a DJ he thrives on range and adaptability, moving fluidly between ambient soundscapes, dub techno, electronica, deep house, progressive house, breakbeats and beyond. It is this eclectic spirit that has carried him from intimate clubs to fashion industry showcases, from underground European residencies to marathon all-night journeys across the Americas.

His formative years in the early 2000s were shaped by residencies in Belgium and Holland, where long weekends behind the decks forged the patience and perspective that define his sets today. For Madloch, the art of DJing lies in storytelling, something that cannot be captured in a compressed one-hour slot. The longer the night, the deeper the connection, with an eight-hour performance at Miami’s legendary Do Not Sit On The Furniture standing as one of many reminders of his love for extended narratives.

By the time international touring beckoned, Madloch had already established himself as a trusted selector at home. Tours followed across North, Central, and South America, as well as every major European capital, often with Sound Avenue label nights anchoring his appearances. These experiences revealed an artist who is not only versatile, but equally at ease guiding a packed dancefloor as curating atmospheric journeys for more unconventional stages.

Beyond the booth, Madloch has built one of underground electronic music’s most respected label families. What began with Sound Avenue has expanded into a group of successful imprints, including 3rd Avenue, Crossfade Sounds, Daydreamers, Future Avenue, and more. Together, they have become a home for both established voices and emerging artists, with Madloch curating compilations that offer new talent the opportunity to grow alongside industry heavyweights. This balance between nurturing the next generation and working with revered figures has defined his role not just as a DJ and producer, but as a cultivator of scenes.

As a producer, Madloch’s work has attracted the attention of some of the industry’s most celebrated names. His music has been remixed by Hernan Cattaneo & Soundexile, Eelke Kleijn, Petar Dundov, Budakid, Tim Engelhardt, Charles Webster, Dmitry Molosh, Cid Inc., Sascha Dive, King Unique, Martin Roth, Nhar, and many others, ensuring his sound continues to resonate far beyond his own discography.

For all his accomplishments, what sets Madloch apart is his refusal to be confined by a single style or context.
