Bruno is an Argentinian classically trained musician, producer, and composer based in Barcelona who writes for strings, piano, and electronics.  In 1998 he started as a producer for ad21, a personal platform and label. His Piano Textures series, started in 2007, is one of Sanfilippo’s most representative set of recordings, but he has also gained wider recognition in modern music – one of his piano compositions formed the basis for Canadian rapper Drake’s seminal hit, ‘Started From The Bottom’.

Recording Instructions:

You need to prepare separate metronome tracks for each part, namely,

for primo: 17 x 72 beats
for secondo: (17 + 18) x 35 beats 

both with the same amount of leading clicks.

The original BPM Ryuichi uses is 136, resulting in exactly 9 minutes of playing time.

Accents should be placed on the final beat on each measure (17th or 18th), so that you can easily recognize when to start the next measure.

Also note that you won't need to flip even a single page while playing: the entire piece is the repetition of the first two measures.

Soundtrack from the movie The Sheltering Sky (Il tè nel deserto) directed by Bernardo Bertolucci starring Debra Winger and John Malkovich.

The instrument is a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Yamaha studio C7 grand piano, with pedal noise and string resonance, and sampled orchestral strings.

This is my first attempt to record one piece of one of my favourite authors: Ryuichi Sakamoto. I used for this the score written by my great SC friend Madokama.  I strongly suggest You visit  his page  if you like Sakamoto's masterpieces. He really is a fine pianist, who plays   using the scores he himself writes down just listening to the music.
