Wilkinson has recently announced the release of his eagerly anticipated debut album Lazers Not Included on 21st October 2013 via RAM records. Wilkinson, has been on unstoppable form since the huge Radio 1 playlisted ‘Need To Know’ and most recent single ‘Heartbeat’ featuring Arlissa and P Money, which firmly established him as one of the UK’s hottest producers and DJs. New single ‘Afterglow’, with vocals by Becky Hill, premiered last night at Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record In The World and a snippet can be heard HERE.

Lazers Not Included will be sure to stamp Wilkinson’s name in the faces of a worldwide audience. Wilkinson’s debut introduces a new raft of stand-out singles including the summer anthem ‘Heartbeat’ with Arlissa & P Money and brand new single ‘Afterglow’, a soulful and spine-tingling track, stuffed with trademark booming bass.

Blessed with an astute A&R ear, Wilkinson has enlisted some of the freshest UK vocal talent to appear on his debut. Following the huge success of his debut album ‘Caligo’, Spor has hooked up with powerhouse producer Memtrix to present ‘Memtrix & Spor: Darkest Hours’ forthcoming on Sotto Voce/Lifted Music.  The track will be released on 14th September. 

‘Darkest Hours’ begins with a stream of deep cinematic melodies progressing into a melting pot of cutting-edge bass sonics and crisp drum grooves; accompanied by ambient vocals. The B-side entitled ‘Super Trace’ unfolds as a dark roller combined with sharp percussion sounds, certain to get a dance floor moving.

With over 1 million views on his track ‘All You Are’ on YouTube and over 5 releases under his belt at the age of 19, this is the start of a long journey in the world of drum & bass for Memtrix. "Working with Spor has definitely been an eye opening and insightful experience,” he says, “but I think more than that it's just been really fun. It always seems really natural and fluent in the studio and we bounce ideas off each other really well I think. Obviously it's an absolute privilege for me to work with such a household name who's work I respect so much, and this release is something I'm really proud of and excited about."

Hailing from Bratislava in Slovakia, D&B producer L Plus has already  
forged an enviable career as a DJ and producer. Since signing  
exclusively to Technique Recordings in 2011, he’s been honing his  
unique sound, with releases like his “Time Travel” EP, “Catastrophe”,  
and remixes for scene luminaries like Crissy Criss and Tantrum Desire.
 
This style is evident in this release. The title track sets out L  
Plus’s blueprint straight away, with sweeping atmospherics cut with  
strong vocal hooks. The bass hits hard, but it’s the melody that  
drives the tune, evoking the early days of rave while maintaining  
precision-tooled production quality.
 
Next, “Taking Me Higher” moves even further into old skool euphoria.  
The beautiful vocal and filtered strings of the intro, swooping into a  
instant-classic riff, offer a perfect lighters-in-the-air moment.  
After an epic drop, L Plus twists things up with another of his  
trademarks, a half-speed breakdown allowing the harmonies he’s created  
to shine through.
 
As the name suggests, “Challenger” goes harder. L Plus is a master of  
atmosphere, and here he shows off this skill to build tension. His  
high-end patterns blend and contort until the drop, when he throws  
down a complex array of synth-work to send ravers crazy.
 
The last track, “Close To You”, takes us back in time again.  
Mid-nineties spacey sounds are held together with the eponymous vocal  
sample. Percussive stabs and building drums introduce the low-end  
which sparks the track into life, which L Plus balances with his  
customary melodic work.
 
This EP shows exactly what L Plus can do. He’s a true music producer,  
not a “beat-maker”, able to manipulate melodies and vocals as easily  
as he can twist up a bassline. Add this to his calling-card soaring  
atmospherics and it’s clear that these tracks are equally capable of  
blowing up dances and airwaves.

Two more cinematic offerings from bass music duo Koven and two more reasons to set excitement soaring for their debut LP ‘Butterfly Effect’ on Monstercat, ‘All for Nothing / Shut My Mouth’ is the next single set to be unleashed from the album. Continuing their success into 2020, they’re tracks which juxtapose one another yet are still underpinned by the emotive production standard which has become a defining part of Koven’s musical personality. Both Max and Katie have brought together a sound which has caught the attention of an audience, one crossing over genres. Having already revealed three new cuts, including ‘Your Pain’, ‘Give You Up’ and ‘Followers’, there’s two more singles left before the full release of ‘Butterfly Effect’. ‘All for Nothing’ and ‘Shut My Mouth’ is the penultimate part of its journey.

‘All for Nothing’ is a record many listeners will recognise from the pairs spell-binding live sets. With Katie bringing her vocal-prowess into the mix alongside her wizardry behind the decks, tracks like ‘All for Nothing’ have stood as a staple part of her sets. It combines keyed piano tones, patches of rising, orchestral instrumentals and a rolling drum rhythm which takes you into its first breakdown. Switching to a more dancefloor edge, you’re welcomed into another anthemic drum & bass delivery from Koven.

On the flipside, ‘Shut My Mouth’ follows the darker route which Koven sometimes embrace, however it still flourishes with Katie’s vocals, peppering the beginning of each breakdown. With a half-time tempo and stabbing waves of sub bass, this is the darker dubstep side of Koven’s sound, yet it still exemplifies the intricacies of Max’s production.

Fans and tastemakers alike are now left waiting for the last album single, Max & Katie have already demonstrated the talents which they both hold; as a vocalist,writer, DJ, producer and through their harmony as a duo, also highlighting why the standard for ‘Butterfly Effect’ has musically surpassed even its already sky-high expectations.

The pseudonym of Dutch producer Mark van der Schoot (32), Maduk first came to prominence via the YouTube channel Liquicity Drum & Bass  in 2011. Van der Schoot had started producing just a year before and had given his friend Maris Goudzwaard -- who ran Liquicity -- a copy of the track "Avalon" which was promptly uploaded. The liquid drum & bass sound was the perfect fit for the burgeoning channel and was released on their new label of the same name. 

Joining forces with Goudzwaard in 2013 to setup the label and their Amsterdam-based club nights, Van der Schoot continued to release on Liquicity and multiple other labels. With his brand of Drum & Bass becoming popular and winning both best newcomer DJ and Producer at the Drum&Bass Awards 2014 & 2015, Maduk released his debut album "Never Give Up” on U.K.-based label Hospital Records in 2016. 

The years after the album release Maduk focussed mainly on his label and events, Liquicity Festival now is one of the biggest Drum & Bass festivals in the world and the Liquicity community is steadily growing with sold out club shows all over Europe. Early 2019 Maduk announced to be back on the Liquicity roster and released his first new album single Go / Coming Down soon after. Later the singles Go Home (NCS), Colours / Still In Love [UKF10 x Liquicity], Company, Everytime, Back To Life, Go Back To The Jungle and Come Back To Me' followed, possibly all part of his second studio album. ~ Rich Wilson, Rovi
