Electro Darkness - part 2

Over the years we’ve become familiar with Posthuman’s various releases, DJ sets and of course, his much adored and rightfully voted number 1 club night, I Love Acid. 

Posthuman need little to no introduction. The cousin duo of Rich Bevan and Josh Doherty released a string of IDM albums on labels like Seed, Skam and B12 before turning their attention to a sound that would go on to become a staple of the artists ethos, acid.

Doherty went on to found Balkan Vinyl in the late 00’s, releasing essential records from Mark Archer, Luke Vibert, Plaid and more. The label also spawned a series of sub-concepts, one being I LOVE ACID, an award winning party series, which also presses acid bangers boasting consistent and instant sell outs, accompanied by personal nostalgic artwork.

1Ø PILLS MATE sub-label Cyberdome follow up their debut release from Slacker with a wicked four track EP that represents the no-fuss, back to basics ethos that Posthuman hold so close. No frills, just high quality dance music. ‘Pleasure Machine’ is a squelching cut of acid-electro; robotic vocals, precise drum programming and a minimal approach crafting a track that very much defines the Posthuman aesthetic.

The words of UK bassline, dub and electro meet on ‘Titan Descent’; large wubs, ravey wubs and stripped-back production, creating a minimal-styled wobbler that highlights how less can also mean more.

Today we premiere the third track on the EP entitled ‘Terror Police’, which sounds like its batteries could well be running out, as it's bassy stabs begin to slow across a classic electro beat, before finding themselves back at 100% as a defected rhythm begins to melt.

Rounding off the release is a remix from electro royalty DMX Krew, who turns in a typically marshy cut rendition of the ‘Terror Police’ OG; a dark and creepy atmospheric journey through the Oblivion gate.

This first EP of Human Rebellion is a nice overview of their universe. An atmosphere globally dark but also sometimes very deep and contrasted, composed of cold and percussive basslines, hypnotic arpeggios, sci-fi textures straight out of their modular and analog synths. No doubt that if you like powerful and energetic electro influenced by the electro-techno of the early 90’s with a modern and creative vision, this release will find its place in your flight case.

This is the first release in a series of charity compilations dedicated to the indomitable spirit of Ukrainians. Currently, our families are facing challenges such as living in a total blackout, with no electricity, water, and internet for 40-60 hours or more, in cold buildings, wearing every piece of clothing we have to keep ourselves warm. This release is also dedicated to all the people around the world who have helped us, and to those who still continue to support us during these difficult times. That's where the name of the series ("VOLUNTEERS") and release ("BLACKOUT") came from. Everyone who has supported Ukraine in any way is a volunteer. In the context of this compilation, every musician, mastering engineer, artwork designer, and person who buys the release or a track from it is also a volunteer.
