Originally recorded at the International Studio & Curatorial Program, Brooklyn, in 2018 - Betty Hammerschlag’s ISCP EP gets a reboot via Cologne’s SPA Recordings. 
ISCP emphasizes Betty Hammerschlag‘s signature that recycles intros, phrases and found sounds into infinite loops. Layered emotions are warping with desires to cycle endlessly about each other. Their deconstruction of pop songs is a delicate act of extracting quintessential temperaments of emotional pop. The Songs are floating eternally like a never-ending sillage full of sentiments.

The 38th release of katharsis and our final release of 2023 is the prodigious compilation "Embracing Darkness, Absorbing Light" featuring a vast array of artist beloved by the label. Throughout the grandiose line-up of the 36 tracks, the listener is absorbed by various differing interpretations of the theme outlined in the title of the album. Some of the invited artist went full into introverted progressions and meditative sounds, while others focused on aggressive rhythms or anthemic melodies. But even though the styles and techniques of the songs differ from each other, the artists seem to have some commonality in their sonic palettes that binds it all together in a mutual love for music as a healing force of nature <3

La Kelly es una artista multidisciplinaria de Ecuador basada en Berlin. Su estilo está influenciado principalmente por su background sudaka y por años experimentando la escena underground de Berlin donde ha trabajado en dos tiendas de vinilos, experiencia que fue influyente en la expansión de su conocimiento musical. En su carrera en Estudios Culturales, se enfoca en investigar ciertos estilos de baile y música, diseccionando su significado y evolución politicos y socioculturales, además de adoptar las enseñanzas del propio cuerpo. Este doble enfoque le permite salvar la distancia entre el conocimiento académico y la comprensión del instinto visceral que surge del contacto físico con la música que interpreta y estudia.

On Saturday, June 17th, 2017 at the Columbus Pride Parade, four protesters — all Black LGBTQ+ people— were arrested and brutalized at the hands of the Columbus Police Department. 
They gathered with several other Black queer and trans people and allies with the intent of silently blocking the parade for seven minutes to hold space for Black and brown queer and trans people.

Their aim was two-fold:
1) To protest the recent acquittal of the police officer who killed Philando Castile, an innocent Black man whose killer, Jeronimo Yanez, a St. Anthony, Minnesota Police Officer, was acquitted just the day before, on June 16th.
2) To raise awareness about the violence against and erasure of Black and brown queer and trans people, in particular the lack of space for Black and brown people at pride festivals and the 14 trans women of color who have already been murdered this year.

Though their method was a silent, peaceful demonstration, the Columbus Police Department immediately opted for unnecessary force in lieu of their civil and human rights. Protestors were assaulted with bicycles, sprayed with mace, jumped on, pushed, pummeled, and chased with horses – all within two minutes of the initiation of the road block. In the process, four Black protestors were arrested: Deandre, Wriply, Ashley, and Kendall. The #BlackPride4 were taken into custody and held in a CPD van for four hours prior to processing without being provided medical attention.

Similar protests occurred in Washington, D.C., Seattle, WA, and Minneapolis, MN without arrests being made.

In the months following, there have been a series of protests in Columbus, OH, along with events to raise money for the legal fees of the #BlackPride4. Other cities, such as Cleveland and Cincinnati, have also held solidarity actions, and organizations nationwide are working to support the #BlackPride4.
