Mæth Dæmon was born after watching a 4k remastered version of “Good Will Hunting”
at the local movie theater. It swallowed the positive themes of education, knowledge and
self-development; it digested and regurgitated those themes, shaping an anti-progress
manifesto which refuses science as a mainstream dogma. Our intent is to generate a
manifesto of anti-progress and at the same time of refusal of the concept of science
as dogma. Mæth Dæmon wrote its first unreleased album, "Dogma", playing with
iconography, mocking neo-positivism and adding a dimension of anthropological pessimism.
Agriculture, abuse of fossil fuels, eCommerce and artificial intelligence are some of the
topics feeding the narrative of its music.
Mæth Dæmon's sound is inspired by the early 2000's U.S. math and post-hardcore
Midwest scene, japanoise artists and a bootleg of "Giant Steps" found at Porta
Portese flea market in Rome. The sound is enriched by different FXs applied to vocals and
instruments together with analog synths (which are used for sound generation, while
testifying how Mæth Dæmon is bored and pretentious). The live shows are therefore coded
as a succession of 0 = silence and 1 = noise.
