Got a Mutable Instruments Rings module, I really like playing with the bell sounds it can make.  It occurred to me that the BSP had all the parts for the main bassline of "Bad Connection" by Yaz, and figured I'd see what that sounded like on Rings.  Turns out I like it a whole lot, despite being really pretty silly.

Mazurka, published posthumously as Opus 68, No. 2 by Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849). This piece was scanned, converted to musicxml using optical music recognition on soundslice, post-processed into midi and then into high-quality audio and other derivatives.

Mazurka (Op. 68, No. 2) - F. Chopin

A quick demo of 3 STG Soundlabs Oscillators into the three inputs of the MooSonics Vanilla Filter, then a Vanilla Mixer built to 1:1 gain (CV mixer build), then the Vanilla Envelope, and finally a Vanilla Mixer built to 6.6:1 gain (Oberheim Two Voice output mixer build). The first mixer is blending the bandpass and notch outputs of the filter with the triangle from the first oscillator. An STG Soundlabs Trigger Mini-Store is used to advance and reset a Synthesizers.com Q960 which is controlling filter frequency via row 2 and oscillators via row 3 through a quantiser. I fiddle with knobs and also transpose the sequence a couple of times from a keyboard controller.

MooSonics Vanilla Envelope, Filter, and Mixer Demo - March 30 2023

Demonstrating what can be done with a module I'm developing.

The first 4 outputs controlling a VnIcursal VCA by Zlob Modular
The inputs to the VCA come from a Synthesis Technology E370
The last 4 outputs going through an attenuator bank the Honey Badger and then control the X parameters of the 4 E370 wavetables
The middle 4 outputs go directly to controlling the Y parameters of the 4 E370 wavetables

The VCA has a mix output, which goes to a mixer channel, and into the Eventide Space for reverb.

Of course there's lots of other details like the parameters of the Hypster, the pitches of the 4 oscillators, which wavetables they're using, etc.  But this was built without a whole lot of effort and then just tweaked a bit.

The Bell's Theorem module is based on a quantum mechanics demonstration about the probabilistic behavior of photons, using polarized lenses.  When you stack them, the lenses behave in unexpected ways.

I have been walking the earth since the
early '50s. I am an ex-mill-rat,
ex-(Calumet)region-rat, ex-chemist,
dead-mathematician, ex-programmer,
musician, composer, earth-walker.
I have two musical directions, I play,
perform, and teach traditional Japanese
classical music for the shakuhachi
(an end blown bamboo flute), and I play,
compose, and perform experimental
electronic music. All the electronic music I
compose and perform is and can be done
in real-time (i.e. I don't use multi-tracking
or computer manipulation for my compositions).
Whenever I record anything, either electronic
or on the shakuhachi, it is done in real-time
just as it would have been done on the stage
or in an intimate setting.
