The full Mystery Trip Vol.II mixtape - drops July 10th on Bastard Jazz Records. This project is all about going back to my roots: pulling out obscure vinyl from my global collection, then lovingly chopping, remixing and editing them into new tracks with a contemporary edge and classic Captain Planet touch. All 9 edits have been blended, along with other audio samples and field recordings, into a 45min mix, which will be printed to cassette tapes like my earliest mixes from the late 90's. Gala Gala tells the story of a village bully. It will transport you to Alego region, western Kenya, where all villages tell of his behavior and of their tiredness of all his wrong doings.
The innovative style of Gala Gala could be called electronic Benga: it borrows a lot of influence from this sound born in the region of Lake Victoria, but is also merged with electronic sounds and arrangements.
The Artist Ngalah Oreyo is a musician and music producer from Kenya. He is a successful musician who founded the award winning band Yunasi, with four childhood friends.
After many years, of working with Yunasi, Ngalah Oreyo decided to venture on new ideas which involve experimenting a lot with traditional and electronic music.Gala Gala is the first song from his upcoming EP.

Lisbon is a puzzle of images, a labyrinth of sounds, a great landscape for the most improbable encounters, a European capital filled with Africa. This is the starting point for Meu Kamba Três, Rocky Marsiano’s seventh album. 
The heavily sample-based production methods that were so present in the sounds of previously released Meu Kamba (2014) and Meu Kamba Vol. Dois (2016) are now naturally replaced and upgraded by his beatsmith touch with a fresh approach. 

Meu Kamba Três was recorded between Lisbon and Luanda, Amsterdam and Maputo, featuring collaborations with artists such as Sagaz, Selma Uamusse (Mozambique), Prince Wadada (Angola), Milton Gulli (Mozambique) and Karlon and instrumentalists such as the percussion master Toni and Nelson da Costa (veteran guitar player from Guiné-Bissau who has played for many Guinean and Cape Verdean bands in the 80s and 90s). Also featuring on the album is Sr Alfaiate, one of Portugal’s most notorious scratch DJs. 

With Lisbon’s very own vibes as a source of main inspiration – where semba and funana, samba, kuduro and kizomba mix with hip-hop, fado, soul and house into hybrid musical forms that make us travel to the past and to the future – Meu Kamba Três is an ambitious album by Rocky Marsiano and to that effect he has brought forward all of his past as a hip-hop head, producer, DJ, MC and above all a rhythm lover. So that he could musically transmit the sense of community that has always been so present throughout his 20+ year long career into new tracks for the dancefloor.

A unique collaboration between Ghanaian MC+ singer K.O.G (Kweku of Ghana) and Dutch producers Umoja.

￼Born in Accra (Ghana) but currently resident in the Northern British ex-industrial city of Sheffield, K.O.G has exploded onto the European scene, slaying shows across Europe with afro-futurist outfit Onipa, afro-funk monster group K.O.G and the Zongo Brigade and as a guest with The Busy Twist, Afriquoi, Nubiyan Twist and Congo Natty.

This is the second in the series of one off collaborations with producers from around the world, following up on ‘Change’ with iZem (Lisbon) on Guts’ Pura Vida label, with forthcoming collaborations with The Busy Twist, Jus Now and more in the pipeline. With great responses to the latest Onipa EP on Wormfood/Mawimbi (September 2018), and many released in the pipeline for 2019 the K.O.G and the Zongo Brigade (Heavenly Sweetness) and guest features on Nubiyan Twist’s album (Strut), 2019 is definitely going to be his year.

Originating from Haarlem in the Netherlands, Dutch duo Umoja have over a decade of experience dishing out warm dusty grooves, unified by an intrinsic appreciation and understanding of world rhythm, the mechanisms of groove and contemporary electronic beats. Any attempt to pin down their sound is only a pipe dream: In the spirit of ‘Umoja’ a Swahili word meaning ‘Unity’, their approach to music is to unify grooves across the seven oceans, one record at a time.

“Kponyole” is a dark, brooding, digi-dancehall banger, with deep subs, hypnotic, rolling bass and sharp percussive undertones. Meaning ‘Be Careful’ in the Ewe language of the Volta region of Eastern Ghana, it warns of the dangers everyone must be careful of, from betrayal by close ones to spiritual pollution. Watch your back. Watch your brother. Watch out for bad spirits. Watch wear you tread. Watch your speakers too, that low end will do them some damage if you are not careful!

“Ayena” is much lighter, a traditional, hi-life style homage to the beauty of the female sex: shake for me, dance for me – with warm, bouncy, almost cartoon-like beats that will make any dancefloor bubble.

From St Lucia to Jamaica to Ghana to Colombia, London born duo The Busy Twist have travelled the globe to create their dance floor killing productions. 

Their debut EP 'Friday Night' combines these cultures, respectfully crossing sound boundaries and joining the dots between Afro House, Kuduro, Latin and Uk Bass. 

The London Luanda Remix Series is the result of digging into 1970's popular music in Angola. Acclaimed by BBC radio host Annie Mac, and supported by the likes of Jillionaire, Buraka Som Sistema or Toddla T, some of these remixes are already being played throughout clubs and parties all over the world, but were never officially released. 

The release of these classic tribal reworks was eventually made possible thanks to the group’s recent trips to Colombia, where they worked alongside Systema Solar, Ghetto Kumbé, Nidia Gongora and Palenque Records, for an impressive variety of original productions, collaborations and remixes. 

In alliance with Colombia-based label Galletas Calientes Records, one of these fruitful encounters, the London Luanda Remix Series was finally materialised.

A purveyor of “international sonic weaponry and rhythm knowledge” (Rough Trade), the Rio de Janeiro-based DJ/producer is a veteran pioneer of global bass music, with 20+ years of dedicated experience searching out unheralded music bumping from speaker-boxes in the world’s grittiest corners, from Addis Ababa to Zanzibar. 

Maga Bo’s sophisticated approach to international sounds comes from in-person, on-site collaboration with other artists. He has worked on location in Morocco, India, Ethiopia, Senegal, Zanzibar, and South Africa, to name just a few, while delving into a whirlwind of local styles: chaâbi, asmari music, taraab, manganiyar folk music, masqanda, and mbalax. All instruments and vocals come straight from the source. His original riddims and recordings, enriched by the presence of live vocalists and percussion, and enhanced by the philosophies of hip-hop and dub, take the global bass DJ set to a new level, one driven by first-hand experience searching open-air markets instead of just searching the web. 

His current work explores the contours of Afro-Brazilian culture and includes collaborations with the brightest talents in Brazil’s vast musical landscape. An immigrant himself, Maga Bo put down roots in his adopted hometown of Rio -- a cultural melting pot like no other where he has produced baile funk MCs and played drums in his neighborhood samba school. Journeys to Brazil’s northeast region have resulted in recording sessions with unsung folklore heroes Grupo Bongar and Samba de Coco Raízes de Arcoverde. 

A globally in-demand performer, Maga Bo has graced stages from India to Ethiopia to Brazil, at major summer festivals across Europe, and on tour in North America and Australia. He has performed at WOMAD UK, WorldWide, Sydney Festival, WOMEX, Transmediale and Mundial. He’s collaborated with Buraka Som Sistema’s Kalaf, Max Normala aka Ninja of South African rap-rave outfit Die Antwood, Ethio-Jazz godfather Mulatu Astatke, Bollywood star Shilpa Rao, and Brazilian chart toppers BaianaSystem and BNegão, and released critically acclaimed remixes for Asian Dub Foundation, Batida, Bomba Estéreo, Poirier, Filastine, and Systema Solar. 

Maga Bo’s groundbreaking debut full-length album, Archipelagoes, was released on DJ /rupture's Soot Records in 2008 after recording sessions in Senegal, Tanzania, Morocco and South Africa with heavyweight local rappers and musicians. His second full-length, Quilombo do Futuro, landed at #1 on the iTunes Brazilian music chart and #1 on the Rhapsody world music album of the year. The album was lauded by the New York Times as “a cultural manifesto riding on rhythm” and by National Public Radio (NPR) as “defin[ing] a kind of virtual refuge for traditional culture, giving it a welcome place in the techy global music soundscape of the 21st century." 

His track, ”No Balanço da Canoa,” garnered over half a million views on Youtube and was featured in Grand Theft Auto V and the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He’s released music on Jarring Effects, Tru-Thoughts, Ninja Tune, Sound Way, ZZK, Cumbancha and many others. 

He currently releases confrontational, bass-heavy digital roots music from all over Brazil on Kaxambu Records and is an integrant of the live tropical-electro soundsystem band, Sociedade Recreativa. 

Having performed and worked in over 50 countries, Maga Bo walks the walk of the real globalization. Music is the weapon in a world of cultural appropriation, wide-spread poverty and mass migrations.
