Crafted in collaboration with an eclectic ensemble of international talents, each track on "Ddungu" pulsates with the vibrant energy of cultural exchange. Under the production of Maganda Shakul, the EP seamlessly fuses indigenous Ugandan instruments with contemporary sounds, resulting in a captivating auditory experience that defies categorization.

Drawing inspiration from their global travels and encounters, Nilotika welcomes friends from afar to lend their voices to the EP's rhythmic tapestry. From the mesmerizing vocals of Timo Taeo hailing from the (UK) to the soul-stirring melodies of Laura Palau representing (Spain), and the enchanting harmonies of Oriana from (Switzerland), each contribution adds a unique layer of depth and diversity to "Ddungu."

The heart of the EP lies the unmistakable presence of Nsonga Diasy, a proud member of Nilotika whose roots run deep in the soil of Uganda. His impassioned vocals serve as a guiding force, bridging cultures and connecting souls with every note

Bakisimba
Bakisimba dance (Baakisiimba) also known as Nankasa or Muwogola is a traditional dance form originating from the Baganda people of Buganda Kingdom in Central Uganda. It is believed to have originated from the movements of a drunken King Ssuuna of Buganda Kingdom. The dance was initially performed in the Buganda Royal Court in ancient times and it holds significant cultural and social importance within the community and is often performed during tribal ceremonies, celebrations, and festive occasions.

Maganda Shakul is a multifaceted artist from rural Uganda, known for his unique fusion of music production, percussions, recycling, upcycling, field recordings and fashion design. Drawing inspiration from his diverse cultural heritage, which encompasses his mother’s lineage from the Baganda tribe and his father’s mixed ancestry from the Bahima and Luo people tribes, Shakul’s artistic journey is rooted in the rich tapestry of his upbringing. From an early age, he expressed a passion for the arts, using traditional percussion as the foundation for his musical exploration. This early connection with the heartbeat of his communities laid the groundwork for the artist’s distinctive approach to music production, where he blends traditional elements with contemporary sounds, creating a harmonious synthesis of past and present. Beyond music, Shakul’s creative vision extends to the world of fashion, where he crafts designs that serve as visual expressions of cultural narratives and memories, utilizing vibrant colors, textures, and symbolism inherent in his heritage.
