"Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness, ninety-nine pounds of soul" - the Ann Peebles lyric says it all. Or at least a pinch of it.

Laetitia N'Diaye and Aurélien Barbolosi (Atomic Maggots, Astonvilla) - the two founding members of 99lbs - have just wrapped up their second album "A Place in the Sun".

The tracks keep a heavy dose of the soul-infused and rock influences heard on the first album, but they raise the temperature with churning guitar riffs, catchy hooks, and texts that touch on everything from broken hearts to police brutality. They are joined by Benjamin Farrugia on drums (Doc Gynéco, Jehro) and Pierre Lalu (Atomic Maggots) on bass.

To craft "A place in the sun", they collaborated with a rowdy group of songwriters and esoteric daydreamers, including South Carolina rapper Saraph Sunman, singers Benjamin Siksou and Patrón Data (Patrón) on backing vocals, and their old DC-based comrade Dearmac.

Since their debut album (Street Corner Fairytale - Magazine Records), 99lbs have been busy gigging and writing new songs. The group is going to release their new album and to hit the road again soon.

Composer: Chris fell into the magic cauldron of music as a child. After an early start on drums, he soon found himself enchanted by the guitar. His first experiences as a young performer were at private parties after school. At 16, he received his first commission: to write the score of a short film by the daughter of the monumental French actor, Jean Gabin. He began to play regularly in Paris jazz clubs. His guitar-playing talent attracted attention. At the tender age of 19, he crossed the Atlantic to study at the mythical Berklee College of Music in Boston.

On his return to France, Rime continued his craft as a studio and live session guitarist for French mainstream singers. 1995 saw the release of his first album, entitled "RIME", on Night and Day records. « RIME » received favourable reviews and his melodies are used as title sequences for a number of radio shows. An eclectic artist, Rime is also a composer and arranger of music for video games, such as Motoracer II (over 1,700,000 copies sold), Darkstone (over 1,000,000 copies) and Motoracer World Tour/ Motoracer 3 (800,000 copies), Flashback, Amy.

Chris was awarded the "Sound for 2000" prize by the regional council, the resulting work "Vert l'an 2000" was performed in public from October. He has since composed music for television advertisements, documentaries and series on all French national broadcasters (TF6, FR2, FR3, FR5, MCM, Arte, Eurosport..).

Chris has now recorded 5 albums of his own, featuring prestigious artists such as Marcus Miller, Stephane Belmondo, Djeli Moussa Diawara, etc.

Chris is now a Framus-Warwick endorsed artist.
