Whether you know it or not, you’ve heard MUNNYCAT.

Maybe it was in a movie or a TV show montage, while doom-scrolling through TikTok, in one of
countless commercials from Crest, Apple, or X-Box, or maybe you stopped to Shazam their song
playing through the tinny speakers at H&M. You cannot escape MUNNYCAT. And there’s a
reason for that - this scrappy, ferociously DIY duo has a flare for infectious and chaotic songs that
have grabbed the ears of their loyal fans, as well as other creative folks that make stuff.
Filmmakers, editors, playlisters and choreographers have been using their neon-colored, ADHD-
tinged, west coast bops as inspiration to get your attention. Today, we announce the release of

MUNNYCAT’S first single ‘honest’ from their upcoming full-length debut album ‘age of the
scorpio.’ “The track is a song about the exhausting nature of the male gaze. With bouncy saloon
piano riffs and thumping 808s, front-woman K808 sarcastically explains her deep-rooted
confidence in a world that isn’t very comfortable with a woman brashly celebrating herself. 
K808: “I was talking with my girls about how we are so done with shrinking to make space and
apologizing for everything. The dichotomy where the world wants women to be hot and perfect,
but not be proud about it or celebrate it. Forget that. We are gunna be hot and proud no matter
how tiring it can be pushing back against a world that wants us to shrink.”

K808: “The idea for the video was born out of me and Khaledzou talking about how it’s so socially
acceptable for dudes to have this unearned, bullet-proof confidence, like they are all just John
Wayne or something. So we flipped the script and made me the gunslinger. We had been
playing the western video game Red Dead Redemption 2 nonstop and it just all came together.
We decided to base the whole music video on the character Sadie Adler from that game, who
should totally have her own spin-off”

Khaledzou: “- plus the track has such a pimp-walk to it. The hypnotic, western saloon piano
jangling through it. It all just came together so effortlessly. At the costume fitting for the video, we
both came out of our dressing rooms and saw each other for the first time and lost it laughing. All
of our sketches and storyboards came to life instantly”

Their music (RIYL: Charli XCX, Kim Petras, Rosalía, Tierra Whack, Kero Kero Bonito, Santigold)
is firmly rooted in modern indie-pop, and has been called “hyperpop on Lexapro”. The press has
frequently referenced MUNNYCAT’s obsession with East Coast proto hip-hop and 80’s art pop.
She has the unashamed bravado of a young LL Cool J delivered with the disaffected
“...obviously” vibes of Professor Snape.

MUNNYCAT is, in its totality, a two-person project made up of producers K808 and Khaledzou.
Originally from the infamously corrupt and troubled rust-belt city of Youngstown, OH where they
learned so much of the self-reliance and individualism that makes them creatively distinct, they
now live in sunny Los Angeles creating art side by side. The newlyweds write, produce, and shoot
and edit their own videos together, lending new meaning to the phrase "dynamic duo"

Damn it was a hot summer. Combination of the CARTE BLANCHE REVUE tour and BUSY P+DJ MEHDI adventures kept me on the road almost non-stop since June and lack of updates here or there can attest.

Nevertheless, in partnership with the good blokes at TSUGI MAGAZINE, I have the pleasure to offer you this new SUMMER MIXTAPE, mixed live at Paris Social Club in August.
