Starting with a percussive story-telling tale, continuing to the either melancholic or uplifting atmosphere behind some old trails. When it suddenly gets dark and threatening to an almost killing mood, the story continues in a different region with a easy yet remindful melody until it all continues with a long forgotten relation between two parted-away people. For this premiere we go for the remindful easy-to-remember melody.

German DJ Helena Hauff and ‘Return to Disorder’ label owner was the first female to be named BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix of the year in 2017. Helena’s focus has always been on productions and DJing making her characteristic gnashing electro, acidic techno and chugging EBM tunes and sets her focus ahead of the limelight and fame that so many court. 

Hauff's background comes from fine art, maths, physics and acoustics meaning her creative flair is perfectly expressed through the coaxing of weighty club sounds from her machines. With ‘Living With Ladybirds’ Hauff lays down four EBM-infused tracks recorded in her method of using strictly analogue equipment. There’s the eccentric electro of ‘Jonas’, the travelling melody behind ‘Your Turn To Fly’, the stripped down pulsing techno of ‘Touching Plastic’ and the rich rolling acid techno of ‘Pinch’.

Gonzalo Villarreal is back for his 3rd appearance on the Mood Series. After his previous two EP's, we couldn't be happier to hear what he's been up to and get some new output from him. 'Trascendalia' offers 4 pieces of strong techno that ebb and flow while perfectly balance catchy, addictive yet distinctive and dancefloor directed. 'Dhammacor Ascendance' is a techy dub gem. The broken almost electro beat really shines inside these chords that ride and build. 'Synaptic Alchemy (V1)' unique chord work is something to behold. If you are after dub techno that rises but also changes directions, then check out this piece. V2 of this track offers a bit more streamlined version while still really honing in on the hook of the track. Either way, both version are epic! 'Zenithian Awakening' is a wonderful way to close this EP out. A beautiful and soothing ride, this is a fine example of the future of the genre through Gonzalo's eye. To close these masterful pieces with this amazing ending really ties the EP for long replays and plenty of listening time. One thing Greyscale looks for pushing the boundaries is a different color and timber to the evolution of the style. This isn't your ordinary dub techno. Check this out! Through a diverse roster of labels such as Moment Cinetique, Letters To Nina, Kolour Recordings just to name a few and a sound that manage to fuse house and broken beat and with soul, Tree Threes is becoming a a force to be reckoned with.
His debut EP for Omena is another fine example of his talent in brining influences from both house and broken beat with a healthy dose of soul. All four tracks on Find Love & Boogie are made by someone that clearly loves music.

It's really such a pleasure for me to have one of my favorite producers here as a guest DJ in the mix for some Moments Of Light 'n Darkness. You find his tracks regularly in my sets. I love his way to interpretate dub techno and dark ambient stuff also. He also has a wide range of styles in his background wether more housy stuff or some weird and sonic eighties flavours.
Now he comes with such a deep and ritch dubby set with so much light and energy. 

Here's what he is saying about it personally: "I've been a fan of Kerstin's MLD series for a while so it's a privilege to be asked to contribute a guest mix. It's a selection of faster, harder tracks which is a side of dub techno I think is often overlooked. I wanted it to be hard and funky but always deep, the kind of mix which would be equally suited to a club or headphones environment. There's a mix of old and new with some great recent releases and a few classics, bookended by my 2 favourite ever dub tech tracks."

Batumi-based producer Four Walls is back after a seven-year hiatus. The first time around he made some standout cuts for the likes of Traxx Underground and Kolour LTD but this time around he finds himself on the new Ultraworld Records imprint from DJ Craft. 

This one kicks off with the lush prog house and silky synth arps of 'Mind Charger' which soon takes you to the stars. 'Metamorphosis' is a more raw-edged and acid-laced techno stomper for peak time action and 'Summer Nights' is a bubbling, elastic tapestry of new age overtones, thudding kicks, and trance-tinged pads. A remix by Toronto-based Pletnev adds another dimension to this club-ready EP.

PREMIERE: Four Walls - Mind Charger [Ultraworld]

The new 12” series on Ballyhoo Records is dedicated to what label owner ‘Thee J Johanz’ describes as ‘Triptech Journeys’. The series takes the listener on a journey traversing old school house to mystical acid and everything in-between.

On volume 2, titled ‘Trancedenting Machines’, side a treats us to two tracks from Master Johanz. First, we have his track ‘Jack the Tripper, which utilizes the famous Dutch analog synth the “Synton Syrinx” and gives the track its swampy bubbling filter sounds and a massive intense hypnotizing drone sound in the background. This coupled with the steady grooving beat will take you to the moon and back. Next up is his track ‘Daylight Tripper’ which brings us a few steps into the daylight with its deep acidic sound that will keep you moving.

Flip it over to side b and we have upcoming talent ‘David Agrella’ from London who surpasses himself with his brilliant acidic track ‘Machinery.’ Finally, and definitely one to watch, is the incredible Swiss acid don, ‘DJ Emotion’ with an extract from one of his endless magical jams. Incredible stuff all round, you need this in your life and on your turntable!

SSSLIP is one of many interesting and forward-thinking producers stemming from Bristol right now. Harnessing a sheer flair for dissected rhythms, he floats in and out of club tool bangers right through to disentangled IDM.
An avid music digger and lover, SSSLIP’s eclectic taste seeps through into his productions. Inspired by the weird and wonderful that the city has to offer, the Bristol-based producer delves into obscure soundscapes while maintaining a club influenced canvas of off-kilter. For his second offering of the self-titled release series, SSSLIP lays down a three-tracker with an intrinsic focus on stripped back, bass-heavy percussive exploration.

Fata Morgana’s concept draws from @ispirian's live sets in the USA. Then, back in Europe, Vasco refined his performance and the live takes were finally mixed and mastered in Madrid. The project sees the light in 2023, after the global impasse the world went through, as a two EP installment: Fata Morgana I & II.

Like a complex optical illusion perceived as a banner over the sea horizon, where sight is significantly distorted and changes rapidly, unlike any other ordinary mirage, a true Fata Morgana comprises several inverted and steepled illusions, stacked on one another, showing alternating compressed and stretched sonic lands.

The term named after the Mistress of the Fairies of the Salt Sea, King Arthur's half-sister Morgan le Fay, encapsulates the hallucinatory prowess of the seduction myth, a symbol of incantation and sensorial catharsis among the pleasure and the pain meanders.
