What trials and tribulations contribute to the making of a Magestik Legend? Divorce? Loss of a father? Being laid off of a providing job of 8 years? Depression? All of the above.  All in the same year. Magestik is creating to stay sane at this stage in life. His music is personal. His music is introspective. His music is his a therapeutic release. His music is a constructive way to put together the pieces to his puzzle.  Starting over is nothing new for Magestik Legend. According to him “Everyday is new life”, so he lives everyday like its his last. ML approaches every song like it’s an experiment filled with endless possibilities in each of his recordings.

Not only does Magestik have a zeal for creating musically, he also has a passion for teaching.  As the founder of his newest business venture, The Legend Lab, ML selflessly offers his services for music education and artist development to youth across the country. All of ML’s teachings are focused in the areas of beat production, creative songwriting, performance coaching and more. These music workshops have also in turn kept Magestik sharp, polished and in-tune with the pulse of the future.

Magestik Legend is one of the few artists who ‘claim’ Detroit who was actually Born and Raised in Detroit, Michigan. Musically and environmentally, he was exposed to every side of Detroit. Creatively, ML was present during all of Detroit's best hip hop eras, from the days of Awesome Dre to Slum Village to Eminem, until now. What separated Magestik Legend early on from a lot of Detroit indie artists was his mobility.  His goal has never been to do just enough for the city to accept him. Legend’s traits have always reflected the mind state of a World Champion, not just a Hometown Hero. This global intention has propelled his musical journey from his first love, Detroit, to New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Berlin and beyond.  

ML’s global endeavors have taken flight as of late through the creation of masked warriors of music, The Black Opera.  Magestik Legend is one of the founding creative influencers of the now critically acclaimed counter cultural musical movement, The Black Opera.  Within The Black Opera, the members hide their identity with masks and costumes that represent characters from different walks of life to fully present the meanings of songs. ML said: “Its amazing how freeing wearing a mask can be. Wearing an actual mask in videos and on stage has revealed to me how many masks we all wear on a daily basis, which is scary. Also creating from different perspectives and expressing those different perspectives with different characters and costumes has, at times, made me feel closer to how other people feel more than ever.”

The Black Opera came at a time when ML was nearly winding down his musical career and reignited a flame that now burns strong.  Magestik Legend has returned to the studio and penned all new material.  He currently has both solo and TBO releases out to the masses, and so much more on the horizon.  With humble beginnings, an insane work ethic and a heavily influential sound, Magestik Legend has solidified his place in the hip-hop universe forever.
