Keeping it local, My Favorite Robot Records turn to the acclaimed Canadian house and techno producer that is Mateo Murphy for a new five track EP that explores the boundaries of quality electronic music.
Murphy has been active since the late 90s on labels like Turbo and Reconstructed but has been relatively quiet in recent years. This new EP marks a welcome return for a truly talented
producer.
Up first is ‘Focus,’ a languorous bit of elastic and dubbed out house music with twinkling melodies and bold bass strokes. Careful filter use allow rays of globular synth to beam into the
mix and add another layer of depth and colour. The dub version is that bit more stripped back and menacing with its granny chords and heady rhythms, then conjures up a heavenly, blissed out atmosphere with its celestial pads and chaired, starry melodies.
‘Apex’ marries arpeggiated keys that rise up through a glassy scale with icy hi hats and a nimble one note bassline. Uplifting and clean, crisp and expertly melodic, this one really will
sooth dance floors when dropped at the right time. The dub version is just as melodically well programmed but the bassline this time round is that bit more grounded and menacing.
It’s been a while since the world heard from Mateo but this latest missive proves he is a welcome voice in the global electronic conversation.

With this single, BONDI continues to promote a deep and sophisticated musical approach. The dreamy and slowly developing melody of the title track "Siel Fiction" is very distinctive. "Nothing Left To Say" shines at first through reserve and elegantly continues developing with synth chords and harmonic vocals throughout its course. In 2017, D.C. based DJ and producer zacheser had a dream: what if he gathered all his peers and friends together and got everyone to build a scene with one another? Not long after, Chub Rub was born.

The debut release from the tech leaning label is a compilation featuring genre bending, boundary pushing cuts from some of underground dance music's biggest rising stars. Label boss zacheser starts off the compilation with the soaring "Yah Yah" alongside The Jalombian before working into the bass heavy banger, "The Storm," from Luke Andy. The party continues with rolling basslines on Brenner's "Stilniss" and the industrial warehouse slammer "Get That" by Symmetrical. RaceCarBed then teams up with zacheser on the tech house weapon "Bad Ideas" before switching gears to the tribal infused "Tembo" from Rawle Night Long and 35mm. The compilation then wraps up with the emotional rollercoaster "Ceremony" from newcomer Nathan Gorey.

Regardless of where you find yourself on the weirdo spectrum, 'Fancy Sauce Vol. I' has a vibe for you - and is an impressive debut from one of house music's rising collectives to keep an eye on.

Having just celebrated the one-year anniversary of his first official release, Elypsis has already found a voice within the compositional niche of atmospheric and sensual deep-progressive electronic music. It seems to have been fateful, then, that he would link up with acclaimed veteran singer-songwriter Arielle Maren (also known for crafting poignant progressive anthems), with whom his musical chemistry is undeniable. Their original version offers listeners both a soothing and moving aural experience, thanks to the chilled, after-hours vibes of Elypsis' underlying instrumental, coupled with Arielle's gentle, yet heartfelt lyrics and reassuring refrain, "I'll always be... right here."

Veteran fans of our label (and trance & progressive house, in general) will not be surprised to see Serbian phenom Vintage & Morelli grace a single that features Arielle Maren, his frequent muse. He honors the rich musicality of Elypsis' production, as well as the emotional resonance of Arielle's lyrics and vocals, with an energized, blissful take. More specifically, the song begins with a punchy, ebullient groove, which casts a hopeful and radiant glow upon Arielle's vocals. Euphoric chords, kissed with just a twinge of melancholy, continue to permeate the soundscape, leading to the triumphant main breakdown, where a soaring piano theme and jubilant chords rapturously coalesce with Arielle's gorgeous vocal.

Amsterdam’s Robin Fett is making all of the right moves in all of the right places and brings his magic back to Loot Recordings for his third release that includes classy remixes by Sascha Dive and Markus Mehta.

The first cut ‘Studio Talk’ emanates pure energy with crisp, punchy drums all wrapped around a thick, warm bass line. The tough groove chugs along, giving it necessary boom for the clubs, and is layered with trippy conversation and moments of smashing sounds that lends the right amount of chaos to make it stand out.

Sascha Dive, one of Germany’s purveyors of all things deep, also returns to the label for a mesmerizing eight minutes of deeper house grooves. His interpretation is structured with stuttering, warm key hits and rising synths where repetition is the trick that creates the magic.

Teaming up with Timothy, Fett’s ‘Alias’ is a stripped back affair of techier house with a pounding rhythm and energetic arrangement of builds and breaks. On remix duty is Munich’s maestro Markus Mehta, who turns in a choppy, modular version that’s an electronic soul symphony. Loaded with playful stabs and a lock tight arrangement of hats and drums, this one is for the robots on the dance floor.
