‘I Remember You Being Happy’ is an extended and reworked version of a track originally written for an unreleased documentary, ‘My Friend Louie’, exploring the life of Louie, a 19-year old trans woman living in Brazil, as she reconnects with her mother and brother at a pivotal moment in her life. 

BAILE, on the writing process: “I felt a deep attachment to these pieces and wanted to release them in hopes that others would connect with them too. The cues I had written were all quite short so I decided to expand them for this EP – creating a deeper world for the music while not losing sight of the original inspiration. There is such a range of emotions in the film, from grief and regret to wistfulness and exuberance, and I attempted to capture all of that in the score.”

Moody analogue pads blend with textured pianos to provide the core of these pieces. Solitude and isolation are channeled through both the music and the visuals they have been paired with. For this release, Kackley traveled to a remote area of Canada in the middle of winter to record a live set and film the somber, barren landscape. These visuals highlight the push and pull of anguish and calm that characterize this EP and the initial source material that influenced it.

Your December free download is a remix, and an important piece of music to me personally. Partly because it was the result of a chance string of events driven by my love of the original track and a fortuitous meeting with Frederic D. Oberland, one half of The Rustle of the Stars with Richard Knox. And partly because I love the intensity and feeling of the original which I have tried to convey in my own way with little regard for the usual rules of making music - ambient strings arrangement at one end, and a drum and bass wall of sound at the other, because that's what I felt was required to communicate the emotions I found in the original piece, inspired by "a musical passage through the North Pole explorer diaries".  
 
Here's what Richard and Frederic said about the original:  "We would like to think of this as a polar journey to the ends of the earth through the arctic sea. We kept in mind the first polar expeditions, Edgar Allan Poe's Dream-Land, the ships trapped or crushed by ice, the point of no-return, the minds sinking, the attempt on the Pole ending in disaster, the quest of the Northwest Passage, Erebus & Terror, the Mercy Bay, Mangazeya, Charles Francis Hall, Beechey Island, the Midnight sun and the Polar night."

After a long intermission, Brambles is finally back with ’Spirits’. Since their last album, ‘Charcoal' (2012), the sound palette has shifted dramatically but the moody and melancholic qualities that made their previous release so resonant remain deeply embedded.

With 'Spirits’ Brambles has put vocals to the forefront using a combination of their own voice and an array of samples that have been shifted, warped and blended into an otherworldly language. Influenced as much by dream pop as experimental electronic music, Brambles strives to find the middle ground between pop and ambient.

Twenty Years Away is a compilation with over two and a half hours of music. The collection is to commemorate n5MD's 20th Anniversary.  All proceeds will be donated to the Cystinosis Research Foundation to help find a cure for one of the rarest genetic diseases, Cystinosis. This collection features 31 tracks from the current n5MD roster and alumni to showcase the label's experimental electronica roots, electro-acoustic, leanings, and penchant for widescreen ambient.  Twenty Years way will be out on November 6th (Bandcamp Day) as digital download or stream.

Temple of a Thousand Lights is the debut album release from 31 year old UK producer Jamie Robson aka Magic Panda. An entire year in the making, Temple is the full length follow up to the well-received "Days are Numbered" and "Tokyo" EPs, with the titular tracks of both EPs making their way onto the LP.

Having spent several years establishing his sound, down to his acute and obsessive attention to detail, Magic Panda arrived late on the electronic music scene in 2011 with his debut EP, The Glass Mountain but in this short time has attracted support from and been playlisted by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo and Max Cooper (whose remix of Distant Places featured on the Tokyo EP and skyrocketed to the top of the Beatport electronica charts). In addition to a handful of EPs and remixes, he has developed a club orientated live set and played alongside Luke Abbott, Ricardo Tobar, Mount Kimbie, Portico Quartet and DMX Krew both in the UK and across Europe. 

Temple of a Thousand Lights is an album of contrasts, from the propulsive and energetic opener Tokyo, and Zwolf, to the delicate and expansive Luna Rosa and Mothlight, it is an exploration of light and dark spaces (Chiaroscuro), euphoria and melancholia (Days are Numbered, A Perfect Circle). Despite these contrasts the tracks are unified by their powerful intensity, creative song form and by the thread of wistful melodies that runs throughout. Temple's melodies allude to far away spaces, both geographic (Tokyo, Paper Crane) and metaphysical (Distant Places, Temple of a Thousand Lights), and attempt to explore the transcendent qualities of music and its power to take the listener into the world of dreams and the unconscious.

Magic Panda offers us some insight into the production process that yielded the story telling sonics for us here, “With Temple, what I set out to achieve was a coherent and unified body of work, tracks that interplayed with each other, that make sense and become whole within the context of the album. I very much took an 'in the box' approach to production methods, utilising an array of soft synths, VSTs, effects and samples, and using the session format of Ableton Live 8 to sketch out  and develop ideas. I attempted to create a multi-layered, and complex sound throughout, starting with initial melodies as the building blocks and then building up a world of sound around these, utilising multiple contrasting synths, counter melodies, processed audio samples and peppering this with dynamic, scatty percussive arrangements.” 

Magic Panda's sound exists in a non restrictive manner in the peripheries of a range of sub genres spanning techno, progressive house, shoe-gaze, post-rock, electronica and ambient, reflecting and assimilating a wide range of influences from the delicate 'plinkerpop' of Morr Music's mum and Herrmann and Kleine, through the sonic experimentation of Border Community to the more cinematic progressive soundscapes of GYBE, Mono, MBV and Sigur Ros. This is a much travelled promise of a storytelling producer’s first full length achievement.

Magic Panda has released a string of well received EPs with indie labels Tigerbeat6, Silenced, Knopje and Maripoza, drawing support from BBC6 Music, xlr8r, de:bug, Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo and Max Cooper amongst others.

He has taken his live set across UK and Europe, sharing line ups with the likes of Luke Abbott, Ricardo Tobar, Portico and Mount Kimbie as well as playing his own shows in Spain, Holland and Belgium.
