The New Age Orchestra - Let's Dream Together 1991

Australia’s Shahara-Ja cut his sole record ‘I’m An Arabian Knight’ in Sydney back in ’89. A deep blend of electronic funk and Middle-Eastern keys. The mysterious Shahara-Ja was a regular on Sydney’s wedding and Nightclub scene when his record was originally distributed. Unfortunately, the release gained little momentum and subsequently most of the stock was destroyed. Fast forward 27 years and the release has quickly garnered cult status since being exposed to the international stage through a handful of mixes.

Just in time to warm up your winter, Hell Yeah revisit the peerless recent Tsuki album from ambient and Balearic masters Tempelhof & Gigi Masin. 

It is Corner Song that gets remixed by Good Timin’ and Running Back man Jex Opolis. Famous for his disco infused synth pop sound he is a master of his own musical world. His version is eight minutes of laid-back tropicalia. Slowly churning drums and knotted funk-bass prop it up as an eco-system of pops, clicks and hits add to the steamy and sensuous groove.

As ever the gold is found on the flip, where drummers Stuart Fear & Katy Bostock (Hanging Out In Space, NTS) team up with Joss Bibby for the kind of low slung disco treat you’d expect to hear in a vintage Harvey set.
