First up in our new series of magic podcasts is this brand new and totally hard-rocking mix of synthed-up slammers, jackers and bangers from Denmark's finest, Flemming Dalum. 

Flemming also served up the debut release on the Magic Waves label with his 3-CD 'Boogie Down Box-Set' years ago, already the stuff of Magic folklore along with his numerous guest appearances for the radio show on IFM and remix action for the gang over the years, and so he was a natural choice to kick proceedings off with. Producer and broadcaster on the mighty Intergalactic FM, the man behind and responsible for the label Flight Recorder and representing Magic Waves Newcastle.

“Known to his friends as Xuki, Atmotic has been a DJ and record collector since 1998. The first cassettes he bought as a kid, by artists such as Vangelis, Jarre, and Enigma, shaped his musical taste to this day, with ambient electronica still remaining one of his favorite styles. However, he is quite versatile and owns an extensive vinyl collection of over 3,000 releases covering a wide range of musical genres.

The first labels he became obsessed with were Rephlex, Warp, and GPR, featuring artists such as μ-Ziq (Mike Paradinas), AFX, The 7th Plain, and B12, among many others. In his view, the essence of electronic music hasn’t changed that much, you can still clearly identify the influence in the work of new artists. What has changed is the accessibility and the tools available to produce music, resulting in bigger number of artists to discover, though not always with the same level of quality. 

Moreover, he believes that mainstream artists from 20, 30, or even 40 years ago were often far better than many of today’s, where social media and marketing are often more important than the music itself;  this is particularly applicable to some of today’s DJs”.

All vinyl, all classics mix from the captain of the Magic Waves ship - Casionova. His reputation was earned spearheading the Italo Disco revival in the UK but spinning sounds ranging from Synthwave to Electro to EBM to Disco to Krautrock to Techno to New Beat to Ambient to Acid along the way too. Being schooled by the legendary Italian Master-DJ from the 1970s Salvatore Cusato (aka Casco) the only rule with Casionova on the decks is simply to “expect the unexpected”, but expect it to rock the party mighty hard!
