I could go out to the nightclub 
I could get my good times on 
Pound some shotties, dance with hotties 
And rage out till the dawn
I could meet the love of my life there
Or make a big business move
Or hear a new song that forever changes
The step in my groove
If I could just foreprove

That it would be better than a cat in my lap

I could drive up to the conference
Shake some hands and learn some names
The biz is changing, if I’m not engaging 
I’ll get swallowed by the game
It truly takes lots of effort
To improve the thing you’re selling
When there’s little demand, when you show your hand
It’s your own future you’re telling
Discipline is compelling

But is it as compelling as a cat in my lap

The predator inside him says, Conserve your energy
Burning too much got you in this bind
Little does he know it’s in our history
To stalk beasts till exhaustion
Hunger fashions every creature’s mind

I’m hungry for a revolution
I know many feel the same
We could organize and mobilize
Send the enemy to shame
And greed can be taught justice,
Our ancestors have seen
When they got screwed half as bad as us 
They built the guillotine
And we’re all half-keen…
But will it be better than Netflix
And will it be better than chill
With all the cars around me in traffic, I know
If I won’t, one of them will
The fires that stir
Mistaken for a purr
It’ll feel better with a cat in your lap
Get yourself home and put the cat in your lap
It’s illegal to move
