This is an audio recording of the Educational Teach-In -Constellations: Ojibwe Legends, with Isaac Murdoch that took place at KTEI on May 14th, 2015

Isaac Murdoch
Isaac Murdoch, whose Ojibway name is Manzinapkinegego’anaabe, is from the Fish Clan and is from Serpent River First Nation. Isaac grew up in the traditional setting of hunting, fishing and trapping. Many of these years were spent learning from Elders in the northern regions of Ontario. Isaac is well respected as a storyteller and traditional knowledge holder. For many years he has led various cultural camps and gatherings that focuses on the transfer of knowledge to youth. 

Synopsis
The following Ojibway legends will be told:
•	Ojiiganung (Big Dipper) The creation of seasons
•	Bgonegiizhik (Small Dipper) The origin of the Shaking Tent
•	Jiibiy Miikan (Milky Way) The legend of how the spirit world was made.
•	Zhowanung (South Star) The creation story for Pahiinsug (Little People)
•	Giwaydinung (North Star) How to find your way home

Your child is your communities’ life,
There is no separating their drum beat from your own,

Too many worry if their blood is enough to come home…

Union was the creator’s gift,
A Sacred red road from that Great Mystery to the sparkling stars
Of your grandchild´s eyes,
Do you still hear your creators voice upon the wind,
Do you see the great eagles soaring high upon the skies,

The sun is rising,
The eagle is flying,
The black elk is striding…
