Late Night Tuff Guy - Glow (Disco Deviance)

One of the nice things of creating a magazine like TISSUE is: you can have your friends and DJs/Producers you admire make you exclusive mixtapes.
For December — this very special month of the year — we chose our friends, supporters and „love consultants“ HOLTZOVA & TOBI FU to warm up your soul.

HOLTZOVA, also known as Julia Holtz is a fellow creative as she’s the AD of German AUDI magazine in real life.
TOBI FU, also known as Tobias Schmid of Audision, Kompakt and auto.matic.music fame, a longterm producer and DJ from Hamburg.
They are a couple since ages, married last year with a big bang and share their longterm music and love experience every now and then as DJ duo Holtzova & Tobi Fu. Not to miss their SALON DS events (in collaboration with Maison Blessing).

Whether as an artist or a record label, attempting to stand out in today’s increasingly saturated electronic music scene is no easy feat, though some people seem to have the knack of making both look incredibly easy. Throughout recent years the British DJ, producer and label owner, Oli Furness has been earning global respect, securing international bookings from Japan to Ibiza and appearances at major festivals such as Glastonbury, as well as a cementing himself as a renowned resident at Manchester’s Sankeys. Furthermore his burgeoning reputation as a producer has seen him release the best part of 20 singles across the likes of NDV, Wax Classic, Morris/Audio and Tact Recordings. That's not even to mention his very own Music Is Love imprint, the success of which has been particularly fruitful, with the likes of Liam Geddes, Jamie Trench, Tuccillo, Mr KS and Jonny Cade all making appearances since its inception back in 2012. 

This year looks to be exceptionally propitious with the addition of his new sub-label, MIL, as well as a management company sharing the same name providing further testaments to Oli’s mounting reputation as one of the most auspicious and multifaceted young guns in modern day house music. Ahead of his appearance here in Farringdon on Saturday (7th March) where he’ll be playing alongside Terry Francis and Eddie Richards in the Demo hosted Room Three, we caught up with Oli Furness to hear about his goals for the year ahead of him.

Italian producer and RBMA Tokyo grad @bienoise is gearing up to release his new mini-album, 'Small Hopes of Common People', composed entirely of would-be soundtracks for movies that never saw the light of day.

On "Lo Res Ro Man Ce", which we're happy to premiere here, the soundtrack quality shines through in the track's dense atmospherics. Its warm, soothing melodic undercurrent, paired with a symphony of organic crackling and optimistic synth beams, suggests the kind of utopian outlook on electronic music put forth by Boards of Canada. For July 2015 Carhartt WIP Radio takes a deeper look at London based label Tief Music. With close ties to the club Corsica Studios, they are well known for their diverse range of music, releasing everything from synth-drenched house to gentle kicking techno. Formed in 2013, Tief Music has released tracks from UK duo Sisterhood, South African one-off project Prophets of the South, German producer Johannes Volk and London beatsmith, Mr Beatnick to name a few. For Carhartt WIP Radio, Tief chief Matt Hesselworth has prepared a mix featuring a selection of the above, along with unreleased remixes from Efdemin, Tin Man and Linkwood, as well as some upcoming releases from his label.

@gengahr’s Felix, John, Danny and Hugh have never been ones to shy away from dark subject matter. Named after a purple ghost Pokémon, their debut album A Dream Outside featured tracks such as Dizzy Ghosts, She’s A Witch and Fill My Gums With Blood. The visuals for their latest grim tale of psychedelic love lost, Tired Eyes, saw the boys call on dancing demons, sexy witches, ghosts, ghouls, Miyazaki’s No Face and even some Pokémon friends to join them for a death dance. Currently mid-European tour, we requested that the masters of the dark arts make good use of tour bus time and give i-D an all hallows eve treat. Freak yourself out with Gengahr’s Halloween mix.

Gengahr: Music to... get creepy to

It all started digital and melted into a highly respected vinyl label: since 2008 Hivern Discs spreads unique sounds out of the heart of Barcelona. In the beginning the label that was co-founded by producer and DJ John Talabot, was linked to the sample-heavy, disco and pop affected house, that Talabot and his Madrid based buddy Pional produced at the end of the last decade. Furthermore techno and minimal are part of the early output, as well as synthesised psychedelia and electronica of all colours. All wrapped in hand stamped or one-off designed covers that have been outlined by their in-house designer Arnau Pi. While in the beginning Hivern Discs featured mostly Spanish artists, the roster opened around 2013 and features today in demand artists from all around the globe like Roman Flügel, Man Power, Red Axes, INIT, Marvin & Guy or Dorisburg. Just shortly after the Catalan imprint launched a new sub-label called HVNX, Hivern Discs founder John Talabot and label A&R Daniel Baughman selected some of their favourite tracks on the label’s catalogue as well as some forthcoming music and never-to-be-released material for a Carhartt WIP Radio show and Daniel Baughman mixed it all down in the Hivern way.
