I started this fortnight’s show with something brand new and unreleased from me, then wobbled around the tempos as usual. Largely kept quiet as I keep getting mic feedback and haven’t been able to sort it out yet. Ended my hour with a nice trio of obscure disco gems up at around 130bpm, in preparation for my guest! 

My guest was Abby Daze, a multi-genre DJ from London. Abby’s mix went in quick and didn’t let up, keeping the energy high and the mixing fast throughout. But she packed a ton of good stuff into this decidedly peak time set. Massive thanks to Abby, and give her a follow on Insta…

Graced from the get-go, 'Blessed' kicks off with an inspirational snippet of speech and gritty drum loop, opening out into the beginnings of this lovestruck summertime heater. Morphing from hip-hop breakbeat into chunky deep house groove, the hypnotic bassline and muted guitar, give a jazz-tinged flavour to 'Blessed'. Third Attempt keeps that live feeling rolling throughout, layering chopped R&B vocals and shimmering keys to add to the ever-infectious vibe.

As well-equipped at soundtracking the hazy hues of a sunset, as it is powering a dancefloor at peak time, 'Blessed' is warmth and weight in equal measure, served up in signature Third Attempt style.

Following signings on Yoshitoshi, Nervous, and Lapsus Music, Wolf Story delivers his latest work, In The House. A three track EP coming out March 20th on Go Deeva Light Records, home of Vanilla Ace, Lexa Hill, and Alex Kenji, "In the House" comes with "Pump It Up" and "Rolling"- the latter is the song we chose to premiere here. The track is a bootleg taken from The Temptations anthem "Papa Was a Rolling Stone," and if you like it funky, this groovy house music version will certainly work for you on any dance floor worldwide!

The Italian imprint Go Deeva, owned by Simone Vitullo, has been featuring many forward thinking artists, presenting talents at The BPM Festival, and headlining Ibiza summer events and showcasing at the Miami Music Week. Duo composed of Parisian born Rico and Peruvian Steve, Wolf Story has made some serious noise this year with releases on Defected, Yoshitoshi and SimmaBlack. With their latest release "The Harp" dropped by Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1 recently, they are now getting requests from all the best imprints around the world. 

Following up on their remix of the Kerri Chandler classic "Keep Me inside", the dynamic duo is back on King Street but this time for an edit of Dennis Ferrer. "Dem People Go" features some nice piano riffs, exciting arpeggios and a subliminal afro house groove. African vocalist Bela Elbo delivers some engaged lyrics on the condition Africans have to go through. 

One of the most respected DJs in the galaxy already gave a very nice feedback: "I Loove the Dennis Ferrer remix" Laurent Garnier. 

"Dem People Go" will drop on King Street Nov 16th.

Dennis Cruz, Yamil - Beautiful Trip (Wolf Story Remix)

Miami based duo Steve Sanx and Rico from Paris are Wolf Story, the next act up on Get Physical Music.

Between them this pair has a rich heritage that dates back to the nineties and takes in running labels like Goldentears and Bimini Records and DJing with Popof. Together they have shaken the walls of clubs all over Europe as well as festivals like Movement. They starred on the Defected Ibiza 2018 Compilation and have had props from Kevin Saunderson, so are a well-established duo always making moves.

The gorgeous ‘Heart Love’ is suitably emotive, with dancing drums and glowing keys, soaring synths and expressive, dreamy vocals all uplifting your soul. The pianos are played with real feeling, and the string stabs only enrich things further to make this the sort of lush, open air house track to get hands in the air and the love flowing.

The second superb offering is ‘Between The World And Me’, which is just as impressively musical but on a more downbeat and introspective tip. Again fleshed out with beautiful chords and keys, bird calls and deeper drums play off while you wallow in the midst of this most heart-warming track.

Wolf Story really conjure up some magic here, on this latest gem from Get Physical Music.

As suspected, 'Dem People Go' just oozes production quality, from the rattling shakers to the hollow percussion, while the drama gently builds and the pianos lilt. Laurent Garnier 'looves it' (with an extra 'o', no less). Chances are you will too. It's massive.
