At the forefront of the dance music landscape, DJ/Production duo and label heads, Catz ‘n Dogz are well and truly in the driver’s seat of their musical journey. With the release of their fourth studio album upcoming, they now release the second album track ‘There’, along with a series of remixes. 

Inviting a band of close friends and like-minded peers to collaborate on ‘Friendship’ LP, album track ‘There’ sets the tone for what is to come in the full forthcoming project. Featuring the captivating vocals of James Yuill, whom has a five-year working relationship with Catz ‘n Dogz, we hear talents on both sides work in perfect unison to create a warming, sun infused track. Yuill’s voice glides over the rolling percussion and synth lines of Catz ‘n Dogz, with the addition of Flamenco inspired guitar riffs injecting the sun. 

Kompakt co-founder Michael Mayer steps up on the rework, taking the track down a gentle and dreamlike path. Slowing things down, he keeps the original vocals with the addition of chimes, that glisten throughout. Contrastingly, Berlin based Terr opens her remix with plummeting kicks and bright synth melodies, transforming the track into a club ready version. 

As a pre-cursor to the fast approaching release of ‘Friendship’, Catz ‘n Dogz also unveil the album track listing in full ahead of 29th March. Showcasing the true array of friends and likeminded peers included in the project; James Yuill from ‘There’ appears alongside ZENSOFLY, Kiddy Smile, Polish rapper Taco Hemingway and Copenhagen’s WhoMadeWho to name only but a few.

Today, Magnetic brings you an exclusive premiere from London-based artist Joseph Ashworth. Known for his emotive brand of deeper more progressive house leaning music, 2019 saw him push his sound in a more leftfield electronica direction, incorporating influences from New Wave, Alt-Pop, and Downtempo, which gained much support from the likes of Sven Vath, DJ Tennis, and more. 

Taken from his forthcoming EP of the same name on Disco Halal, 'Breathe' is dark and brooding, yet haunting and delicate at the same time. Featuring airy vocals from Vanity Fairy, Breathe envokes a sense of wanting and melancholy, like coming to terms with the end of something. Breathe will be available February 14th via Disco Halal.

In the summer of 2019, German musician @aparde released "Hands Rest", an album that ingeniously navigated the tenuous line between electronic music and avant-garde pop, to great acclaim. While capturing the thumping essence of Berlin’s club scene, in which Aparde is immersed, ‘Hands Rest’ also took listeners to the depths of the musician himself, far from clubs and live sets, to a world that is both intimate and profound.
