Enduro Disco continues his mesmerising run of form on Exploited with another
spellbinding three-track release.
‘Julio’ is unmistakably his handiwork: a classy, spacious slice of modern, dubbed-out
disco. Warm, Balearic bass underpins a haze of chopped-up, resplendent disco
string samples and tripped-out, unintelligible vocals at the core of the track. Flurries
of saccharine, mellifluous synths soar and glide from various pockets of the track,
and deft conga rhythms fill in the gaps. More dramatic synth touches and triangle
16ths keep the track captivating to the very last moment.
‘One Jam’ is similarly dreamy, where plucked 8-bit-esque melody twinkles over
chugging bass and breathy male vocal harmonies. A triumphant feel envelops this
track, with shimmering disco hi-hats bringing the rhythm urgency and subtle strings
filtering away in the bedrock of the composition. Blissed-out, spine-tingling gear.
‘Standing Up’ completes this delightful 3-pack in wonderfully colourful fashion. The
bass is more funk-fuelled, blasts of sprightful trumpet jump out of the mix, and sweet
snatches of piano give passing glances through a filtered haze. Samples are twisted
into unrecognisable snatches of melody, and infectious percussive hits pepper the
groove msot pleasingly. Masterful.

Get Physical Music kicks off 2022 with Thandi Draai's landmark Africa Gets Physical Vol. 4 which features some of the most exciting names in the South African house scene.

Producer, vocalist and singer Draai has been a core part of the label this year. It is where she has already released her ‘Jika EP’ as well as collaborative singles from this mix with DJ Beekay and Candy Man. Before now she has won several high-profile competitions - one of which saw her get mentorship from Wyclef Jean. She has also been on MistaJam's Africa Week on the BBC, appeared on hit South African show Masters of Spin and is currently a resident DJ on Ukhozi FM's Bhampa2Bhampa show every Friday, which is the leading radio station in Africa. As such she is a preeminent light in the vibrant South African scene and is now getting international acclaim as the country's first woman of colour to release solo tracks.

Says Thandi of this adventurous new selection, "What a time for Afro Tech House, it’s alive and vibrating through the whole Universe right now. I am super honored to be compiling this year's Africa Gets Physical Vol 4 and for the opportunity to work with such amazing artists from right across the African continent. The album opens up with Thakzin feat. Kitty Amor's tribal house call to arms with hefty kicks setting a deep groove. Dawgpound's 'Egypt' then smooths out the drums and layers in spine-tingling vocals before the seven-minute epic 'Sikelela' brings lush layers of percussion, synth and marimba. There is a soothing and heady feel to the cuddly beats of Drega's 'Mama Dear' featuring vocalist Maline Aura then 'Free Now' opens out into cinematic house soundscapes, and Amos Blaq offers an exquisite remix of Thandi's 'Iris' that has gorgeous vocals and pillowy drums.

The second half of the mix lifts you up with epic strings on 'Tuhan,' Thandi Draai & Candy Man's emotionally stirring 'Out Of Africa' and a second Thandi collaboration, this time with DJ Beekay and the heartfelt 'Linda.' There is a more steely energy to the zipping synths and warrior drums of 'Ngenani' and arresting chants of 'Sekukude' by Shona SA & Sazi Cele. This ever-evolving, always richly musical mix rolls on through devastating Afro house from Silvva, Cuebur, Khensy and a bright DJ Clock remix of Thandi's standout single 'Jika.' BlaQRhythm's rolling and hypotonic 'In The Jungle' and Eltonnick & G-Wash10's 'Osiris' featuring T_Phoenix close things down in truly epic and unforgettable fashion.

Africa Gets Physical Vol. 4 is another authentic snapshot of the continent's unique house scene.

Ahead of the release of Cook Strummer's Berlin Gets Physical in September comes the first of two EPs from it. 

Berlin-based Cacao Records bosses and brotherly duo KEENE are behind the opening track. They are regulars on labels like Connected and have a deep and spiritual house sound. That is the case here with the dynamic drums and chunky bass of 'Ecoute' which comes with Afro vocals and loose, organic percussion. It's a fantastically atmospheric affair followed by a collaboration between two more Berlin based artists Los Cabra & Manuel Sahagun. 

They mix organic rhythms and electronic tension on labels like Bar 25 Music and Stil Vor Talent. Here, their 'Italian Groove' is a crisp tech house offering with snappy snares and tight drums. Once they have you locked in, a rugged bass synth signals take off while ever more lush and cosmic synths colour the airwaves. It's an expansive and high energy track to ignite any DJ set. 

This superb EP is a great taster of the full compilation to come.

Get Physical Music kicks off a new relationship with Greta Levska by signing up her first collaborative track with Trutopia. 

Lithuanian-born, London-raised Ibiza resident Greta Levska has a richly multicultural background that feeds into the music she makes and plays. She is someone who quickly rose up through the ranks on the White Isle this summer with energetic sets that cross a wide house and tech spectrum. Inspired by the likes of DMX Krew, Bugz In The Attic and Peggy Gou, Greta will follow up this first outing on Get Physical with more new music in 2023. 

'Lights Off' was made with Trutopia, two brothers from Swansea Wales who have been making underground moves on labels like Strictly Rhythm since 2015. It's an intense house cut with future-retro synths lashing about the mix over punchy drums. An echoing vocal swirls around the mix to bring the soul and after the atmospheric breakdown acid flashes up the ante and takes things to the next level. 

This is a fine first outing from Greta Levska with many more to come.
