Hot on the heels of Helsloot's superb 'Let's Pretend' single in April come two new remixes of it by Tube & Berger and Saint Evo.

Helsloot's original was quickly picked up by an array of DJs and dropped in a number of great sets. It was the latest in a string of fresh singles from the Dutch DJ and the extended mix is included again here. It is a hypnotic and rolling house tune with lush chords that bring plenty of cosmic vibes.

First to remix it are German mainstays and Kittball Records founders Tube & Berger. This pair has amassed over 100 million streams to their name, have scored a number of Beatport Top 5 hits and are regulars at leading parties like ANTS in Ibiza and the legendary Tomorrowland. Their take on 'Let's Pretend' is a light and airy, disco-tinged and bouncy house cut. The scintillating chords bring light, a steamy vocal layers in the soul and the whole thing takes you into another dime nsion.

Saint Evo is the founder of Celsius Degree Records and hails from the savannah plains of Kajiado County, the home of the famed Maasai people. He is a pioneer of the Afro house sound in East Africa and has collaborated with a multitude of producers and vocalists from across the globe. Here he remixes 'Let's Pretend' into a chunky groove with delicate synths and starry-eyed melodies. The percussion brings rich Afro house vibes and the vocals become spiritual chants that cast a majestic spell.

This is a vital package that brings some fresh new influences to the great original from Helsoot.

The release of Crosstown Rebels’ SPIRITS compilation is always a bastion moment for the label. The first edition came to prominence in 2017 and we’ve been graced with an annual compilation ever since, showcasing a consistent habit to champion established artists and breakthrough ones alike. Now, Crosstown Rebels’ lauded SPIRITS series will see the light of day once more in June, with the release of SPIRITS V.

“Compiling the Spirits compilations and sourcing the artists that create the artwork for the sleeves is one of my favourite annual jobs for Crosstown. I get to sift through all the best music being sent to me and find a way to make a cohesive one stop shop full of underground battle weapons and future club hits whilst also setting the tone for the sound of the label in any given year. NYC-native Layla Benitez leads proceedings with Fides, a progressive leaning, introspective number that retains an inherent danceability throughout. It kicks off the compilation with a driving energy, one that’s perfectly matched by Trabajar - the Crosstown Rebels debut of recent Hot Creations inductee Mr.Diamond. 

A techy-inspired cut, punchy four-four drum patterns create a distinctive late-night feel, as UK-talent Denney soon arrives with Kill The Soundboy. Showcasing the groove-laced house sound with which he’s become best known, the near seven-minute piece is sure to light up many a club setting this year, paving the way for Talk To Me. It’s a collaborative venture between Munich-based artist ASK:ME and El Muerto, with Soulfoot featuring on vocals. Retaining a vintage Detroit style, the fast-paced tempo creates a natural excitement before Romanian-born mainstay GruuvElement’s gifts us the minimal-toned Boom Room.

Building with tribal-like percussion and salsa-inspired instrumentals, it’s a playful excursion into dance music’s outer realms, paving the way for young Peruvian producer Chinonegro with My Moment. Whether it be the pluck of a guitar string or a jazzy trumpet solo, there’s an inherent authenticity to the six-minute piece, as a mid track breakdown gives way to whispering hats and a rhythmic underlying backbone.

The penultimate offering comes from French-born, London-based regular Maglia, who serves up the shamanic Rayiys. The chirping of birds reside atop an ever-changing bassline, leaving us open and ready for the VA’s closing saga: Thanks Moon, by Spain’s I AM JAS. A heady combination of beautiful lyrical contributions combine with softly moving electronic elements, to leave us in a state of calm, inward reflection. Rounding off proceedings on a note of quietude, it reminds us of the final moments in clubland, transporting our psyche to sunrise, fond memories and everything in between.

Over a period of nineteen years, Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels has evolved into a world-renowned institution, garnering global audiences thanks to a consistent schedule of quality releases. In years since it’s earliest beginnings, the likes of Maceo Plex, Art Department, Seth Troxler, Ali Love, Mathew Jonson, Pier Bucci, Acid Pauli, Dennis Kurtel, Francesca Lombardo, Glimpse, Aphrohead, Fur Coat and a plethora of other figureheads have all found their home on the label.

The roster is international, showcasing how Crosstown has shaped a truly global scene. Releases are born in different continents by artists who hail from different countries, resulting in a sound that resonates worldwide. It’s been a minute since TAU’s label heads dropped a release on their own platform, but trust us, it’s worth the wait... Adana Twins return to Planet TAU with a total dance floor bomb, ‘Snake Ritual’. This cut has been doing the work globally, causing uproar wherever it is played, and now it’s time for the track to have its official release.

The first thing that will strike you about this cut is the meticulous attention to detail; the drums are layered exquisitely, with just the right amount of pump and vigour to cultivate hypnotic energy. At the low end they keep it simple, yet deadly, until the mesmerizing main riff comes in just after the 2min 30 mark. This is when the dance floor is ignited, and the earworm melody infects your mainframe, willing to dance and express yourself with wild abandon.

Adana Twins have developed an uncanny understanding of the dance floor over years and years of touring the globe, testing out, and playing, thousands of tracks. ‘Snake Ritual’ taps into their intuitive understanding of the club, encompassing a mystical, hypnotic atmosphere that develops into an explosive breakdown.

Dutch powerhouse Helsloot returns to Get Physical a year after his last outing with bold new single ‘Take Care.’

Thomas Helsoot is a revered underground presence with a famously melodic electronic sound that has taken him to labels like Poesie Musik, Domino, Astralwerks and Lane 8’s This Never Happened. He spent the first decade of his career working behind the scenes for artists like Diplo but has now fully established his own style.
