Lightning Flash

I wrote this song after a fantastic weekend in Barcelona with some very special friends that I have. I wanted to capture the vibe we had and the Barcelona town. 

Version control:
13th July - First mix
14th July - Chose a different take of the vocals in a small part in the first vers. Added De-esser to the backing vocals (I forgot that before). Did some changes to horns section to make them a little more distinct. Removed one hit on the bass kick in the first chorus. Increased the latin percussions a notch. Increased the volume a notch for the vocal fills at the end.

ACE OF SPADES ( MOTORHEAD COVER )

A cover recorded for a compilation album that was released by the Swedish rock magazine Backstage in 1995 with my band at the time. We were asked to contribute with a exclusive song that was not on our album (see cover image). We had played this song live a few times so we decided to record it. The drums and bass (I'm playing bass) were done pretty much live the day after our release party for the album so both me and the drummer Jamil were hangover as hell. We went to the studio on our own, no technician or producer around, and did two takes and the second one is what you hear. I did one correction on the bass and that is it. Guitars and vocals where added later. 

Schizophrenic Circus- Deuce (KISS cover)

This is an experiment where I have been playing around with various plug-ins and digital sounds. I wanted to create a hybrid of several things like metal, EDM, Cinematic music and pop. 
I added some tongue-in-cheek lyrics that is actually about the music it self. Enjoy!   

Version control
12th Sep. Did a new mix with less limiter on the master. De-essed some cymbals.
changed some of the vocoder harmonies on the vocals. Added some reverb on the guitars. Some small volumes changes to various channels.

My name is Magnus Engdahl and I live in Sundbyberg, just outside of Stockholm/Sweden. I used to play bass in various bands, both original and covers, back in the 80's & 90's. I have released a few CD's with different bands and had a record deal at one point with the band Schizophrenic Circus, with whom I also did a Swedish support tour with Saxon in 1995. I decided in Nov 2009 to start to write my own songs again after not being very active for many years. You will mainly find my solo projects here were I play, sing, program and mix everything, but there will also be some old stuff I've done and some new collaborations with other people. 

My software is; Logic Pro X on a iMac 27 (late 2013)", Shreddage2, Komplete 10, EZ drummer2, EZ mix2, EZkeys, TH3 guitar plug and a few other plugins.
Hardware: Fender Jazz Bass and Fender Guitar, Gibson Studio, Washburn acoustic guitar, Apogee Duet sound interface, Sennheiser K4 Microphone, Komplete kontrol S49 and Maschine Studio. 
More than anything I use my creativity. 

All songs prior to the 8th of June 2012 were recorded on Logic Express and songs prior to 17th January 2011 where recorded on Garageband.
