Hollow interior. The whole tree juddering as the wind pulls it back and forth by the branches. Eurasian Wren; Common Chiffchaff; a pair of Common Buzzards over the woodland canopy. New creaks and old creaks; new growth and old growth. Freshly grown spring leaves. A portrait of landscape, from the tree’s own body.

‘Oak Trunk’ was realised in the composer’s private studio between March and July 2020, with support from the Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership (AHRC).

No AI software of any kind was used to compose ‘Oak Trunk’. All ideas, sounds, audio processes and written notes are the unique creative output of the recordist/composer.

Synopsis:
Water is everywhere, is vital for the existence of life in the earth.
Our planet is like a drop moving trough the universe. This piece is a
sound journey from the clouds to the sea told with a simple narrative.
Revealing the cycle of water and how important is for our lives. Many
field recordings made in different places of the world were included
(for example : a river in Norway, the ocean in Tierra del Fuego, a sea
organ in Croatia, the rain in Brazil,  etc).

I tried to make a song without any guitar, piano, drums or computer VST plugins. Just by using a variety of awkward, archaic and time-forgotten instruments, which are no longer popular. That was the goal. And for me, who grew up on the sound of electric guitars and synths, it was a challenge :)

Used instruments: jouhikko (bowed lyre / tagelharpa), hurdy gurdy (niněra), irish lyre harp, irish bouzouki, low whistle, tin whistle, tibetan singing bowl, peruvian maracas, kalimba, jews harp (brumle).

Another fantasy / medieval music idea recorded on real instruments!
Scandinavian tagelharpa, Irish bouzouki, tin whistle, shamanic drum, jew's harp, and some percussions. Hope you like it :)

Bealtaine

Another "vst free" song recorded with real instruments only :) Mix of Celtic / Nordic / Mid East styles. Used instruments: Irish bouzouki, didgeridoo, vargan (or jews harp), irish lyre, armenian duduk, shamanic frame drum, my voice and some percussions. Enjoy :)

Hunt

This song is played with VST plugins - EastWest symphonic strings, RA, Ethno World, StormBreakz. 
It's my first work with VST plugins in Cubase, so it's not perfect, and it's just an idea. Enjoy ;)
