Better Days

Dougal & Hixxy certainly upped the ante with their New Essential Platinum spin-off label in 1997. New collaborations, new production styles and even more impressive, new remixes, yet still maintaining that unique sound Essential Platinum is renowned for. From Antisocial's distorted kicks and extreme euphoria in the crowd favourite, '24:7' to the simplicity of DJ Daydream's 'Make Your Own Kind Of Music' with it's uplifting vocals. The label presented us with so much quality in the three years it was running. DJ Stompy's only, yet memorable release is the magnificent 'Come Follow Me'. DJ Storm was perfecting his remix duties on the absolute masterclass rendition of Force & Styles' 1996 smash, 'Fireworks'. Jenna killing the vocals on the majority of the later innovative, Innovate tracks, including the Bonkers 6 anthem, 'Shelter From A Dream' along with Dougal & Skeedale's 'Complete Perfection'. But, there is one stand out track for me. One that's in a league of it's own. 'You Make Me Free' is, in my opinion, one of the all time great Happy Hardcore records. It has so much heart, so much soul and so much happiness.
