Heroin (Live from the Jacaranda)

I wrote this song by myself in my grandparents’ basement in July of 2018. I wrote it on a really old Casio keyboard using a tone called Fantasy that I love and that I haven’t found on any other keyboard before or since. It was called Fourth of July for AGES and I sometimes still call it that when I’m not paying attention. I actually didn’t like it when I wrote it, but it’s evidently grown on me because it’s here! 

Fireworks was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee in early January(I spent New Year’s Eve in Nashville which was amazing). We used a Fender Rhodes piano on this song which I’m really lucky to have been able to do. Recording this, and the other songs I recorded in Memphis was absolutely the funnest thing I’ve ever done ever and I never ever ever want to forget it.
My hope for this song is that people can relate to it and connect with it in some way. That’s my hope for all my music, really. I make music to understand myself and I love the feeling of being vulnerable and connected at the same time. It’s an electric feeling. Put concisely, I hope this song makes you feel something. 💥
