The fourth track of my sophomore album, Hiraeth is out today.

This was the hardest one to finish yet, and a lot of rough stuff was happening during the process. There were points I hated it, but in the end I'm thankful I had it to work on when it felt like little else. Thank you

If I Apologize Enough, The World Will Sink Into The Sea

The fifth track of my sophomore album, Hiraeth.

I wrote most of Hiraeth as an electronic album with heavy metalcore and post-hardcore influences, but By "razor-thin" Margins was one of the few primarily metalcore & phc songs I wrote. I feel like I'm just repeating myself in every description, but this was a really difficult song to finish. However, compared to some of the others I'm still not sure about, this is the most confident I've felt about a song in quite some time. It was originally released through a defunct record label and was prematurely deleted due to some inside drama, but I am so proud to release it with extra love & care in the way I always intended.

In times of self-reflection, I can't help but pinpoint the times I've failed to meet my own expectations. 
Even the smallest of goals are a challenge, it seems as if the act of finding possibilities of success is where my problem lays.
But despite every error I've made, and every person I've hurt, it's up to me and me alone to move forward.

The sixth track of my sophomore album, Hiraeth.

One of the biggest things I've been getting over during the process of writing this album was portraying emotion. I've only in the past few songs felt really comfortable writing things outside of depressed or euphoric, and writing an angry song was definitely on the bucket list!! I'm really happy with how this one came out, and I hope y'all jam to it as much as I do :)

Illusion of Safety

The seventh track of my sophomore album, Hiraeth.

I wrote I Think You're Bleeding about all of the cool people I've met and never had the chance to be friends with before we parted ways. I have a bad habit of aggrandizing these moments into horrible lost opportunities, and scrutinizing every word I said as a failure to connect. This tends to come with me creating a false image of these people in my head, and projecting either a sadness or apathy onto them. Recently, I've been learning to let go of that, realizing the world moves fast as hell and expecting to find the time to keep in touch with every kind stranger is a bit ridiculous. With this, I've been figuratively killing off the false images I have of these people, and becoming able to fondly think about the few hours I spent with them. This song is about letting go of that angst of friends that never were. Enjoy!

I Think You're Bleeding

The eighth track of my sophomore album, Hiraeth.

Wow! Only one more left and the albums out. This one is sort of a center piece of the record for me, and really encapsulates everything I was feeling while writing it. The word Hiraeth is Welsh in origin, and has a few specific meanings. The one that resonates with me in particular is as follows: (n.) homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past. Last year, I had really negative falling outs with a few close friends, which led to homes I felt at place in being destroyed. I struggled so intensely with this, and this track is a deconstruction of everything running through my head at the time. I hope you enjoy!

Hiraeth

The closing track of my sophomore album, Hiraeth

I started making this album at one of the darkest points of my life. Halfway through its creation, the experiences and memories I wrote about occurred again, a mirror image in reality to the thoughts I couldn't get out of my head while writing this. Hiraeth is an album about a story bifurcated, a moment becoming a pattern and a pattern ruling my mind.

I began writing when I was 17, and ended closely after my 19th birthday. Hiraeth is a welsh word with many meanings, none of which easily translatable into English, but vaguely meaning "a homesickness for a home you cannot return to, or that never was." Laying in bed, after two of the communities I cherished most were destroyed, due in no small part to my own  actions, I felt a connection to this idea unlike I had in a very long time.

This is an album about connection, loss, betrayal, innocence, immaturity, and most of all, grief. In December of 2020, I wrote 7 30 second demos in a burst of creativity that I had  not felt before or since, and all of which I slowly tooled into tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 9. This album, so grounded in these themes was the first time I had been able to put every idea I had into sound flawlessly. I wrote so many of these songs in a place of pure  distress and unwellness, but as I came closer to finishing, it became harder to maintain  the themes of nearly pure desperation I entered with.

I realized I had started becoming happy. That I was moving on, and that this was a step in my life that I had already moved past. When the second community crumbled, I was more distraught than before. I added new songs, and sunk deeper into a pit of self-hatred and isolation to finish this project. But joy prevailed. There are two moments a metronome is used on this album. "If I Apologize", the first song finished after the second community crumbled, and "Only A Moment", the first song finished after I realized I was okay. I look back, and realize as well as these themes, Hiraeth is an album about perseverance. An album about pulling through the hardest parts of my childhood and coming out the other side happy. Hiraeth is an album about love. I hope you find that as well.

Remember When We Used To Be Friends? (Storybook Version)

I got some bad news a few days ago. My hard drive is dead. Really dead. Not just, "we think it's dead but maybe we can save it" dead, just dead. I've taken a few days to think about that, the affect its going to have on my music, and my life. It's not worth holding onto the past like this anymore. I realize that my vision for my second album is gone. I can do nothing to bring back the magic I wanted to create, and with that, my passion for the project left too. It was called Crystallia, a full length EP inspired by modern J-Core, with inspirations from the storytelling of JRPGs and melodic tendencies of 2000s post hardcore. I had a few songs put together, but none nearly finished. It's gone now. Even if I still don't know that world or where it will go, there are pieces of it laying here for me. I still love that world. I still love that vision. I hope someday I can go back to there, because it felt safe. Until then, I'll be working on other projects. With that being said, here was the first single to Crystallia. It will never be finished. It will remain how it was when I was still starry eyed about that world. It's called Crystal Doors.
