From the earliest days of the scene in the '90s to today, Frivolous Jackson is an artist who has been completely infatuated with everything related to dance music and rave culture. Getting his footing in the Chicago House scene back in the day, he caught a number of groundbreaking acts early on before drumming up enough money to buy some decks of his own. Since then he hasn't looked back with a plethora of releases under different aliases, as well as a handful of imprints to help foster growth as well.

Frivolous Jackson cut his teeth during the Jackin' House resurgence that happened in the mid-'00s, dropping heaters as The Sound Republic, Frankie J, and Francis Jilla, the latter of which was his bootleg alias. Additionally, he pushed forward with Spatula City and Flapjack Records, the two labels he founded during that time as well. But duty calls and when he decided to begin a family he put his all into that aspect of his life, until his kids grew more independent and he could make a return.

Now, Frivolous Jackson has done just that with a flurry of fresh releases to mark his arrival back on the scene, as well as a freshly minted label called iSH that he helps run with Torrfisk as well. And you'll often find him in Golf Clap's Country Club Disco Community on Facebook as well, as he took on the role of Admin to help keep that thriving group flourishing.

After hearing his recent remix of SLATIN's "Put That iPhone Down" and seeing the onslaught of tunes he's dropped as of late, when the opportunity arose to chat with Frivolous Jackson we jumped at the chance. Swingdeep - Time To Jack Vol 1

OJ (full name Olivia Johnson) is a DJ and aspiring producer in Los Angeles. It was an easy choice for the Seattle native to keep the nickname - it happens to rhyme quite well with DJ. By day she wields words and creativity as a PR specialist, but in 2019 she decided to apply that knack for storytelling to her main passion: creating musical experiences as a DJ. Pre-COVID she would regularly spin at Westside spots like The Little Friend and Nameless, but during the pandemic has embraced Twitch as a way to find new audiences. She believes music is the most gratifying way to experience and process emotion, and draws further inspiration from dark dancefloors she’s experienced around the world. Expect plenty of acid, techno and breaks alongside chunky, jackin’ house when she’s on the decks. A house head at heart, her multifaceted, multi-genre mixes also fuse ‘90s house anthems with pop and hip hop edits. With a drive second to none, stay tuned for what’s to come from OJ.

'Materium' is epic in every sense of the word- a sprawling, tough journey into analog tech- no – with a dash of house thrown in. It rips through the speakers – the crisp and aggres- sive production provides the space for grow- ling synths and atmospheric, tense pads. What’s more, the whole track audaciously dissolves into silence mid way through – be- fore exploding back into life via a descending analog synth line.

This journey we're about to embark on promises of exciting new sounds and feelings. Cloaked in a dark veil of mystery and intrigue, SLUGGERS have compiled a beautifully illustrated map to the cosmos. The sounds of science, with a techno pulse powers the 3 track release ahead. Beginning where one should, (at the start), 'Particles' introduces a lush and minimal framework which builds to a crescendo, somewhere just before 'Contact'. A hypnotic vocal, and playful percussion give way to an undeniably hype apex half way though the track, and as the resulting contact is made, the 'Horizon' is approached. We don't have a clever enough space analogy that would emphatically, yet poetically scream 'THIS TRACK IS SO HYPE'! But we know we've arrived, right where we're supposed to be. Are you in it for the journey though, or to simply reach the destination? We're enjoying this too much; lets hope the ride never ends...

Little is known about Miami-based SLUGGERS but in almost no time they have landed support from industry top dogs Skrillex, Boys Noize, A-Trak & Diplo. This has lead to SLUGGERS appearances at some of the worlds top festival stages including TomorrowWorld, Ultra Music Festival & EDC Las Vegas. After landing a track in Skrillex's BBC 1 Essential Mix the Slugs were tapped for an EP on OWSLA's Nest to close out 2013. Opening 2014 with an official remix of Diplo's single, 'Revolution' on Mad Decent - the Slugs are picking up right where they left off. Following up the Nest EP with a two song release on Fools Gold's Clubhouse, the Slugs are poised to have a break through year. We're thrilled to deliver this great collection on Main Course!

Mele Bio:
Melé creates euphoric high-octane dance music inspired by his love of Brazilian beats, transatlantic hip hop and classic house music. The boy from the Wirral started young, learning to DJ aged 13; a decade on and he’s honed his skills and his 2015 tribal anthem ‘Ambience’ kick started his status as one of the new names to watch for in 2016. Melé’s energetic and unique percussive sound has gained him prolific support and recognition from some of the biggest names across the scene: Eats Everything, Patrick Topping, Tiga and Jackmaster to Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Disclosure, thus his tracks are becoming instantly recognizable in clubs across the world.
With forthcoming releases signed to Eats Everything’s sought after Edible imprint and the legendary house label Defected Records, the young producer continues to DJ around the world, supported by his regular DJ mix series Melé’s Manor Rhythms which have continued to grow his following purely from his impeccable ability and flair behind the decks as the perfect on-point party curator.
