Mostly just a sketch, didn't have much time to fill it out; was thinking something more like "intro cutscene" or some such, laying out the setting, what's going on, droppin' some bad guy villain plot, the Salamandos hearing about it and rushing out.

If I had a bit more time, definitely would amp up that energy, spent most of my time fiddling with progression and melodies. lol

This time around, I pretty much started with the rhythm and drums, doing a sort of Steve Reich thing initially, but then I was hit by an idea, sent to the hospital for severe head trauma, and woke up to this.
Crazy stuff. 
This is either some whacked-out character select wheel, or the Salamandos sitting around talking to each-other - different leads, different 'voices'.

I wanted to do something kinda simpler, play around with a basic blues progression, and some pretty crunchy samples - gotta love that compressed oboe+electric guitar combo! It's sort of a nice easygoing track, despite how hyperactive it feels. lol

7 Days of VGM - Day 3: "Knuckle-Crack Blues" (Fighting!)

Quick one, kind of an exhausting day today!
This time around, the Dark Queen from Battletoads! I sort of wanted to play on the idea of her basically getting fed up with the Battletoads' nonsense - The horns I imagine are the Battletoads busting down the door, and what follows are constant interruptions, and changes in tone as she gets more irate followed by complete chaos when she's finally decided to shut them up!

 I spent maybe 3 hours on this one, so it's pretty rough. Oh well. :/

Just a song that got stuck in my head, also wanted to really explore using a lot more compressed samples, sounds and such I had left-over from earlier projects. Only high-fidelity samples in play: a weird hurdy-gurdy, some toms, and a single lead synth!

Day 6! Spent around 4 hours on this one.
I really, REALLY wanted to embrace some chaotic meters and truncated beats, so a lot of my time was really spent playing with the rhythm, drums; mix isn't amazing, and I'm not super happy about the mono-synth - pretty sure I could've done more with the progression. Still really like the overall direction though! 

It's kinda hard to climb stairs when they keep fallin' out from under you. :P

Day 7! Forgot to upload last night. I just wanted to do something dumb, kinda thrash-y, has sort of a 'Mega Man X'-ish flavour now that I listen to it! lol
I absolutely love that B section though, probably one of my favourite things I've written. :)

7 Days of VGM - Day 7: "Headcracker" (Big Baddie)

This was originally for a game I was writing the music for, basically a sort of "land train", a massive pile of machinery with the express purpose of going anywhere and everywhere. It was scrapped since it sounded too 'happy-go-lucky', but I opted to polish it anyway and upload it here.

This is from a game I was working on, project fell apart. Meant as a theme for a character who was sort of a tavern brawler sort. A lot of characters in the game were going to have their own special battle themes based off their dialogue songs. This was going to be made into a kind of "Dropkick Murphy" or "Flogging Molly" homage for this particular character's battles. Would've been absolutely kick-ass.

Spent a few days this past week working on this, while at the same time making up an excuse to learn how to use FamiTracker. I feel like it turned out well, and kinda goes in a more heroic marching sort of direction than the original track.

The Nexus - Chiptune Version

Did this last year, forgot if I uploaded it or not. Basically I was listening to the song "Like Looking For Dropped Pickles", felt like it looped too soon, and so I made like a refrain chorus-y thing for it. I feel like I did a good job, also has a very "Mario 64" vibe to it - had fun transcribing and adding to it, that's all that matters!

Pretty much the entire 'Chill' track could be summed up as a sequence of events: Dr. Mario wheels in patient -> patient complains of a bad cough -> Dr. Mario examines patient -> patient coughs -> Dr. Mario starts tossing pills at patient -> patient's symptoms subside, then return -> Dr. Mario starts throwing even more pills at patient -> "Uhh... I think you overdid it, doc..." -> Dr. Mario panics, revives patient -> repeat.

Long story short: Plumbers shouldn't run clinics.

Been working on this a while, probably never gonna be perfect so I decided to upload it. Basically it's a mock-up of some melodic bits from the Clock Tower SNES soundtrack, as if they were cued to a proper horror film scene. A lot of John Carpenter influence mixed with some Industrial elements, also a touch of Haunting Grounds.

I do music for a lot of different media, primarily video games though. Lots of Soundfont use and baby-tier synths, particularly really enjoy working with pure old-school MIDI, and making that sound good!
