The name “Major Bacon” came way back when Dave was a boy. He found an old desk placard reading “Major Bacon,” his maternal grandfather, an Army major in World War I who passed away before Dave’s birth. As Dave honed his guitar skills, his ultimate goal was to one day front a band bearing the name Major Bacon. 
That day came when he and fellow Pat Ramsey & the Blues Disciples member Eloise Davis formed Major Bacon after Pat succumbed to terminal illness in 2008. Dave and Eloise now needed a drummer; Bill Hjortsberg filled those shoes. Eloise knew Bill from the New Orleans music scene; his sense of time, precise touch, and Southern rock background completed Dave’s vision.
