Emma then talks to&nbsp;Annelle Sheline, a research fellow in the Quincy Institute’s Middle East program who's latest paper focuses on the U.S.'s prioritization of weapons sales over human rights. Annelle gets into some of the thinking of her state department colleagues over this issue, which she finds to be rooted in outdated American exceptionalism. The hypocrisy is particularly noteworthy when it comes to Israel, despite growing public sentiment against Israel's destruction of Gaza and perpetual subjugation of the Palestinian people. We've made it to casual Friday folks! The Supreme Court had a field day yesterday with the Trump administration's attorney over their executive order to revoke birthright citizenship. Several of the justices, including conservatives, seemed to reject the argument that circuit court injunctions should only apply to the specific case in question. After that, the Nation's Jeet Heer is here to break down all the week's highlights (and lowlights), including Trump's trip to the Middle East, the GOP spending bill and the Democratic Party's lack of willingness to address concerns over Biden's age when it counted. Netanyahu says that he's going to allow in some food aid, but it seems to be mostly a fig leaf to shield Israel from widening criticism over the starving children and looming famine in Gaza as the IDF begins it's new, horrifying phase of their genocidal campaign. Senator Chris Van Hollen is one of a very short list of U.S. lawmakers willing to call it out. After that, Sam and Emma talk to historian Quinn Slobodian about his new book "Hayek's Bastards: Race, Gold, IQ and the Capitalism of the Far Right."
