We wrote Nothing Sweeter at the height of lockdown after talking with our writing and production partners in Australia and sharing our stories of being stuck at home in iso. We were all scattered between Seattle, NYC, Austin, and Melbourne, AUS. We were planning all of the logistics to try to get a safe studio session together in the middle of the country so we could all record in the same room. In realizing the juxtaposition of feeling like elementary school besties at the thought of being able to actually see one another in person and the actual fear of physical touch, we playfully aimed the theme of this one to be “stand by me…but please don’t hold my hand”- A theme we can all relate to in the time of hand sanitizer and travel bans. It was written remotely across the world, recorded in Kansas City, Missouri at a COVID-safe AirBnb and produced in Melbourne, Australia. The fun loving, bright and sunny, gal pal theme song felt like the perfect closer to the Aussie summer of ‘22.
