Another Compassion Cuts/MPR favourite: the garage/r’n’b earworm ‘Don’t Tell Me (How Love Should Feel)’ by 2-BMW. A Tony Humphries/Zanzibar choice, the sole release on Life Of Luxury in 1990 was New Jersey producer Larry P Rauson’s first cut, and never saw a full release beyond a test run. 

Larry on ‘Don’t Tell Me’: “Tony played the song at Zanzibar (on a) Saturday night. That Sunday morning my phone was blowing up... That weekend gave me the moment of my career. I was an engineer at the local cable company. Listening to Tony Humphries on the radio, not expecting it, Tony Humphries played my record on his show... I did not last much longer at that job."
