Zambian born, London educated, Paris trained, jazz and soul singer, Major Zulu brings a flavour of new jazz with an international flair.

Live audiences love Zulu's earthy vocal tones and artful storytelling. One moment she is transporting audiences to a historic jazz venue called ‘Aux Trois Mailletz’ in the Latin Quarter of Paris, where Nina Simone once played, the next she takes them to Zambia, where her father suffered under colonialism as a young child going to school with no shoes because of the colour of his skin.


‘Major Zulu plays with Sydney based jazz and soul musicians, bassist Gervais Koffi (Africa), London drummer Ian Mussington, pianist Roshan Kumarage(Australian/Indian) guitarist Yannick Koffi (Australian/Ivorian) and trumpeter Charles Casson (Australia).

‘Zulu has appeared on the same stage and festivals as Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse James Morrison (jazz), Paolo Nutini, and Earth Wind and Fire to name a few’ She has been featured in a movie ‘Jamais Contente’ by French Director Emelie Deleuze, playing the role of a gospel singer. Major Zulu has previously lent her voice to Grammy award winning band ‘Basement Jaxx’ on track ‘Everybody.
