About this EP :
We are excited to present the latest release from the collaboration between
Dj Farrapo and Carlo Maver. This time, the single features the debut of Spanish
singer Clara Andrés, whose delicate and smooth vocals add a fresh touch to the
song. The unique melodies played by Carlo on the Colombian flute gaita give
the song a truly captivating sound to this smooth cumbia!
The release also includes two remixed versions, one by the Brazilian DJ Nirso,
who brings a Northeastern Brazilian Electro-Côco flair, the second remix is by
the Italian producer Ka:lu, who gives the song a tech-house twist.

Coming off a run of singles and an LP on Ubiquity Records, UK DJ/Producer Tigerbalm (aka Rose Robinson) brings her vibrant global sound to the RNT catalog with the Nina EP. Of the two original songs that grace the A side, Nina is a pulsing boogie affair with driving percussion, catchy chants and punctuating sax, and Sisters is shows a more balearic side of tropical with African guitar work and lilting soulful vocals. The B-side sees two distinct remix takes on the title track, the first by RNT regular Elado who bumps up the tempo for a stomping acidic club mix, and Voilaaa who transforms the song into a driving and authentic classic Zouk arrangement. Here comes the new exciting release by ARIMA SOUL musical project from the Basque Country. 

In this case, a real vinyl collectors item, exactly a limited edition of 7" double single on vinyl 45 rpm. Including different songs of diverse styles, something characteristic of the ARIMA SOUL group, hence the title "Disco·Funk·Reggae·Dub" and with the indisputable and talented art&design by the great Txarly Brown from Barcelona. 

On side A of the first disc, we find a remix of the soulful song "Gu Andereak" taken to the realm of disco-funk, produced by the great DJ and producer VOODOOCUTS based in Berlin and specialized in revitalizing vintage sounds of jazz, soul, r&b, funk , afro, latino,... 

On side B of the first disc, we find a cover recently recorded by the group at Elkar estudioa, of the classic "Lady Day & John Coltrane" great song composed & performed by genius GIL SCOTT-HERON. 

On sides A and B of the second disc, we find “Amets” track featured on the group's first release, in this case a re-mixed vocal reggae song and its corresponding dub version, by the hand of ROBERTO SANCHEZ, undisputed master of Spanish Reggae & Dub sound, straight from his A-LONE ARK Muzik Studio in Cantabria (Spain).

After almost a decade of “Vamos a Comer” (2010 © Lovemonk) successful EP release, the Basque-German DJ and music maker, Mikel Makala and Jimmy Bidaurreta musical producer and director of Gasteiz Big Band, join forces again to create a new album called Descarga Libre, mixing modern latin jazz with urban pulse & soul. Here is the first single with the collaboration of London based Chilean-German singer Fedzilla (vocalist on group Wara).

Después de casi una década de la publicación del exitoso EP “Vamos a Comer” (2010 © Lovemonk), el DJ y agitador musical vasco-germano Mikel Makala y el productor y director musical de la Gasteiz Big Band Jimmy Bidaurreta, unen fuerzas otra vez para crear un nuevo álbum llamado Descarga Libre, mezclando latin jazz moderno con pulso y alma urbana. Aquí el primer single de adelanto, con la colaboración de la cantante de origen chileno-germano residiendo en Londres llamada Fedzilla (vocalista del grupo Wara).

A few years later of “Vamos A Comer” EP (2010 © Lovemonk) and the “Unexpected Tapas” (2011 © Lovemonk) album releases, the Basque-German DJ & music maker, Mikel Makala, and the producer and director of the Gasteiz Big Band, Jimmy Bidaurreta, join forces again to create a new album called “Descarga Libre” (2019 © Orrua Diskak). Now the Basque duo strikes with the same purpose to rescue those Latin, Jazz, Funk and Descarga to Nuyorican Salsa sounds of labels like Fania, in combination with club & dancefloor rhythms. In the beginning of 2019 they’re back with a new album containing 7 originals songs, giving continuity to that brilliant sound they have signed together & have already obtained remarkable admiration from some international reputed DJs, producers and radio hosts, such as Craig Charles (BBC-6 Music, UK), Raphael Sebbag (United Future Organization, Japan), Mad Mats (Raw Fusion, Sweeden), Paul Murphy (Afro Art, UK), Diego Manrique “Ambigú” (Radio 3, Spain), ... to name a few. The album contains different collaborations such as London based half German/Chilean female singer Fedzilla (vocalist on Wara), Cuban singer & bass player Omar González Mesa (Daniel Amat Quartet), Cuban trombonist Yarian Yaque (Mayito Rivera & Orquesta Los Hijos de Cuba) and Cuban percussionist Denis Barzaga (Soneros de Changüí) and Iñigo Ortiz de Zárate, guitar & keyboard of Basque rhythm&blues & soul group, The Allnighters. 


El DJ y agitador musical vasco-germano Mikel Makala y el músico y productor de Donostia-San Sebastián, Jimmy Bidaurreta director de la Gasteiz Big Band, son unos de esos artistas que llevan mucho tiempo creando sus propios universos sonoros. En su nuevo proyecto conjunto en forma de álbum, “Descarga Libre” ponen de manifiesto que con un amplio abanico de ingredientes: Latin, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Descarga, Salsa Nuyorican o elementos Afro-Cubanos, se puede cocinar un buen plato. En estos experimentos creativos y vitalistas, estos alquimistas enamorados de los ritmos latinos, hacen música de ayer con la visión de hoy o música de hoy con la visión de ayer y con la que recorren territorios donde se funden estilos, timbres, sabores y climax. El resultado es estimulante y donde su sección rítmica hace que movamos los pies y todo el cuerpo. Pero no haríamos justicia si no habláramos de los músicos que les acompañan en esta aventura sonora, como los cubanos Omar González Mesa (Pancho Amat Cuarteto), cantante, bajista y guitarrista residente en Donostia; Yarian Yaque Gutiérrez (Mayito Rivera & Orquesta Hijos de Cuba), en el trombón y Denis Barzaga percusionista originario de Guantánamo. También participan Iñigo Ortiz de Zárate, guitarrista y teclista vasco del grupo The Allnighters y Fedzilla la vocalista chilena germana del grupo londinense WARA. Mención aparte hay que hablar de la gran portada del álbum confeccionada por Txarly Brown.

We are pleased to exclusively present to you the first remix taken from “Descarga Libre”, the album released by Makala & Jimmy Bidaurreta at the beginning of the 2019 year through Orrua Diskak, Mikel Makala's music label. The great Navarrese DJ and producer @nachopiek has remixed “Irratian”, the fifth cut of the notable work of the Basque musicians in which they fuse styles such as Latin, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Descarga and Nuyorican Salsa, as well as elements of the new trends in dance music. For this new version, the Navarrese producer adapts the original to the dance floors, maintaining the Jazz essence that the song gives off but adding a faster beat, which walks between house and disco accompanied by acid overtones and eighties synths. He has also dispensed with the voices to achieve a more energetic and direct effect on the track, more focused to the dance-floor.
