Aloha fellow Hawaiian music lovers!
As you know, we have made a dedicated effort in our past two award-winning albums to record original compositions from our own hearts or from the minds of our brilliant contemporaries.  While we remain dedicated to this mission, we also have a special place in our hearts for the traditional mele of Hawaiʻi that have inspired our creative efforts.  We decided to take advantage of the recent transformation of Hawaiʻi’s music retail industry and to satisfy the continuous requests of our fans to record “the old stuff”, and record this album of some of our favorite traditional mele.  We’ve decided to name this tribute Hāliu, which describes our effort to turn and have regard for all that has come before.  And, it’s also Volume One which means...there will be more!  Available exclusively through our website or through us directly at all live performances (we won’t be releasing it in stores), we hope this will showcase our deep appreciation for the music that we grew up listening to.  As we note in our detailed liner notes that accompany this album,
           
“We know our original music is appreciated...but so many of you keep requesting the old songs!  
For all of you who have begged us to record traditional mele in our Kūpaoa style, this is for you.”
