Hailing from Bristol and now based in Berlin, Second Storey is a musical chameleon, capable of melting electronic music components down to their raw stuff and building back up a sonic framework that matches no pre-existing templates and is bursting with funk. A regular studio mate to the hyper-talented Appleblim, Second Storey has released a steady drip of technically tight and totally unique electronic grooves that are a must hear for the discerning  listener. He recently compiled this IDM/breakbeat/electro set exclusively for FWD.DJ and we are happy to share with you.

Yu Yu is a tiny box room in CDMX. Since its opening in 2017, it’s been the home of electronic music in Mexico, welcoming everyone from Darwin to dBridge. In addition to the club, there’s also Yu Yu Record Store, a cosy vinyl stockist that champions the same flavours as its adjoining venue.

Advice for the DJs, artists and producers of our community: It is learning to match your musical expressions with the desires of an audience. It is not only matching beat or scratching over songs, it is about being observant, empathetic, and reactive. The most important thing is to be completely honest about what those reasons are to become a DJ. Listen to records and try to actually understand what these people thought about when they made their music and how they felt the next phase of the music would go.
