I wrote this song while watching Lovecraft Country Episode 6. Coincidentally the main riff modulates between 4/4 and 9/8 at 90bpm. I found this very symbolic after I deciding on the title for this track.

The Kumiho, a Korean mythologial creature which is featured in episode 6 of Lovecraft Country is characterized as a nine-tailed fox spirit.

Seeing as I wrote the riff while watching this episode I decided to name it Kumiho. it was after the fact that I realized the coindidence between the 9/8 at 90bpm and the nine-tailed fox.

Sometimes our most loving gestures are interpreted as something other than their original intent. Who knows who is right. The title is a metaphoric representation of turning something or someone beautiful into something somber. Sometimes these are the same thing. This song embodies regret, shame, and the disappointment life and love can bring. The B section and Major resolution represents hope and the anticipation for a new flower to bloom. Maybe one that is both beautiful and joyous.
