In compiling a remix 12” for the most recent Homemade Weapons LP - Gravity, we approached 2 titans of underground electronic music who have both been supportive of Homemade Weapons and Samurai Music. Donato Dozzy and Tommy Four Seven have each been utilising our releases in their sets and we have been inspired and grateful for their fearless deployment of drum and bass to their predominately Techno audiences.

No stylistic directive or requests were given. We trusted these two gifted artists to interpret the music in their own unique fashion, but in all honesty expected remixes around the techno tempo. What we received back are 2 landmark drum and bass versions that re-define the nexus between Drum and Bass and Techno.

A Sun Called Moon​ is a superior first representation on Ohm Resistance, detailing their ongoing mission of creating bass-present music, regardless of dancefloor conformity. The Time You Killed opens as a psycho-acoustic audio film, depicting the unknown world from which the EP emanates. I Would Gladly Die... introduces the first heavy rhythmic patterns, completely alien to identified structures, while unmistakably pushing a groove that entrances hypnotically. Past Times Present Ruins lowers the tempo and continues extrapolating into new rhythmic territory - or is it ancient? It Was Too Soon follows with beat driven hednod, as influences from Scorn to Autechre are subsumed into the universal language that comprises Dadub. Feeling both familiar and foreign, both modern and eternal, Dadub’s first appearance on Ohm Resistance is a fascinating drama played out in 4 acts. Spliff recommended - subwoofer required.

A02 DADUB I Will Gladly Die (For The Same Reason)

This track is part of a fundraiser compilation for the people of Beirut. 100% of proceeds will go directly to relief, and support organizations on the ground in Beirut.

In the aftermath of an explosion at the city's main port exactly 1 month ago that caused an unthinkable amount of damage to the city of Beirut and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. In addition, the damage and destruction of infrastructure and buildings throughout the city (including many cultural spaces, heritage sites, museums, hospitals, studios), not to mention the injured, homeless and hungry families who are in survival mode.

The amount of support for this project has been humbling and its a pleasure to release this mix of music from various artists from all over the world with the sole purpose of raising funds for people on the ground, day in day out, doing what they can to volunteer alongside local and international organizations to support the people who were and will be affected for a long time to come.

About the Voltage Songs EP:

The origin of this project was to compose a full song on the Tracker, using mostly modular synthesizers. I use a CV.OCD midi to CV converter so the Tracker can speak directly to my eurorack systems. My first experiment with this set up led to this.

Once this track was done I multi tracked it to my computer and polished it a little bit, added some details to make it a little bit more interesting. From there as I wanted to be able to share this with other users on the Polyend Scene, I made a bunch of samples using all those sounds from the modular and decided to make another track out of it. This is the track you have here, feel free to use any of those sounds in any way you like.

I used mostly the Slice play mode here, so I could make different chunks of audio, sequence those back in any orders that felt right (or wrong) and play those at different speed easily.
The time stretched version of the breakbeats were made using the Akaizer (but as I write this there is a very potent time stretch included in the Tracker).
