Artist Statement – Omid Saidi:
I am Omid Saidi, a musician from Bushehr, a city in southern Iran. Khargian Gazelle is my first official solo album as a composer and vocalist. Before this, I released the album In the Oil Fields with the group Otagh.
This album intertwines elements of southern Iranian folk music with electronic textures, forming a new space to revisit the natural world of Iran’s south—from plains and rivers to palm groves and the Persian Gulf.
Yet, nature is not merely a subject here. It is a vessel—one through which protest, longing, and endurance are voiced in a world that is constantly changing.
Kharg is an oil-rich island in southern Iran, known for its unique environment. It is also marked by the forced presence of gazelles that were relocated there, gradually reshaping the island’s natural landscape.

در این اپیزود از حال و هوای کسایی حرف میزنیم که توی چند روز جنگ نگران خودشون و خانواده‌هاشون بودند… از ترکِ خونه‌هایی حرف می‌زنیم که دیوارهاشون تَرَک برداشت، از بچه‌هایی که نمیتونستن بازی کنن، چون جنگ بر لب‌های هیچ کودکی لبحند نمیاره.
