16 years ago in basements and bedroom studio’s in south London, a new sound was born….
Mala was part of the music revolution which came to be known as ‘dubstep'.

DMZ, the label was created and 1 year later a bi-monthly event at Brixton’s Mass began.
Both label and event became pillars of the dubstep scene.
A scene built on dub-plates and vinyl only productions. played on heavyweight sound systems.

16 years later, Mala has decided to re-issue his back catalogue digitally for the 1st time.

All tracks have been re-mastered by the original engineer: Jason @ Transition Mastering, and still sound as heavy, warm & timeless as the initial vinyl only releases.

Wisdom Teeth label head K-LONE revives his Wych imprint for an essential two-tracker of bleeping, melodic halfstep. 

Following on from the critically acclaimed 'Old Fashioned' EP - released last year on DJ Parris's Soundman Chronicles imprint - WYCH002 sees the young Londoner exploring his formative roots in dubstep and grime - albeit from a startlingly fresh, forward-facing perspective. The tracks loosely recall the off-kilter rhythms of early James Blake and Joe, but their psychedelic melodies have as much in common with the contemporary experiments of Leif, Peverelist and Duckett. 

Hotly tipped by dubstep heads Commodo, V.I.V.E.K, Boofy & Kursk. Forthcoming May 11th on 12" vinyl & digital formats, with hand-illustrated artwork by Annie Foyster.
