For our 20th release on Discolypso - we are thrilled to share this amazing collection from Dombrance - complete with a series of Remixes from some of our closest collaborators!

Dombrance Explains:

For 5 years I’ve been using the names of politicians to create pieces of music. This formula has enabled me to create characters and give a fun visual identity to each song. I have been very lucky to work with the talented Olivier Laude in developing these graphics for my artwork and the animated visuals I use on stage.

It has been an honour to work alongside INA (The French National Audiovisual Institute) – who allowed me to dig deep into the French archives and create video pieces to go with my last album ‘Republique Electronique’. The pairing of retro footage from Paris in the 1960s – remixed alongside my music has worked really well at my shows!

For months now, I have been working on new productions, but I wanted to end this politician cycle in style with two songs….. the final bouquet

On the menu: ‘Copé’, who disappeared suddenly from circulation after publicly mistaking the price of a ‘pain au chocolat’!!

‘Bayrou’, another politician – who thought he finally came to power with Macron, but had to leave the government barely after entering it, indicted for embezzlement of public funds!

To accompany them, a completely crazy video, a first dive into live animation from the genius graphic designer Olivier Laude, animated by his friend Ulysse Lefort. They worked hours of labor, homemade with a burst of colours, humour, and a lot of love. A mix of French comics, American cinema, and Japanese manga.

In this new EP titled Double Trouble, there is also a string of remixes from legendary producers and the cream of current clubbing DJs

Bufi & Kubebe are pleased to announce the release of "Sternana Remixes," a package of reinterpretations of their latest collaborative EP, originally released under our sister label, Fauna Reve. This new release showcases the unique visions of Balam, Tyu, Mufit, and Hermetics, who transform the original tracks through their personal styles, taking the musical experience to new and exciting dimensions.

The EP opens strongly with Balam's remix of "Sternana," an acidic and energetic track infused with trance vibes. It is followed by Tyu's remix of "El Jockey," which blends enveloping drums, resonant basslines, and psychedelic elements to create a hypnotic and captivating atmosphere.

Directly from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mufit arrives with his remix of "Cicatriz," a deep cut that combines break drums with electrifying bass. To close the release, we have the version by the Argentinean Hermetics of "Sternana," a catchy and subsonic cut that seduces with its powerful kick and captivating vocal elements.

Textos De Sillón was born in the studio of Oswaldo Pichardo, better known as (H)
The meeting between Vleks, Cali Burton and H is nothing new since they have been working on music for years. In the same way, sharing gigs around the Mexican national territory.
The Jam Version, as the title describes, was composed by the three of them, recorded in a live session and mixed by H, while Vleks and Cali Burton put together their own versions with a more techno tinge to take this encounter to the dance floor.

First released back in 2013, You Man's debut EP Restless - and its lead track Birdcage - launched the career of French duo Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco, kickstarting a decade of stunning live shows played all around the globe and acclaimed releases and remixes on labels such as as Tronik Youth’s NEIN, Boston Bun’s Circa’99 and Eskimo Recordings. Now, to celebrate their first ten years in the game Huleux and Di Falco have revisited their debut EP, and this time they've brought along some of the many friends they've made over the past decade, from house legend Etienne de Crécy to pianist Des Jonquilles.

With its chugging 109 bpm beat and a melody that switches from throbbing minimalism to something tantalisingly close to a full-on Ibiza sunrise moment, the EP's lead track Birdcage has never strayed too far from discerning DJs record bags but across several new versions here we get to see it reinterpreted in thrilling new ways.

The aforementioned Etienne de Crécy should need no introduction and his whip smart version of Birdcage, shows just why, taut French house at its finest. Elsewhere we see the track given a darker techno makeover courtesy of Duro Records Theus Mago, whilst fellow Mexican producer Rigopolar turns in a laid back version that would definitely not sound out of place on some Balearic beach.

Taking things even further out there Parisian trio PPJ send Birdcage on a trip to Brazil's carnivals, vocalist Páula adding her own lyrics to the version's freshly added and frenetic South American electro rhythms. Leaving thoughts of sunshine and the beach behind, sometime NEIN label-mates and fellow French duo Kimshies take Birdcage in a much darker direction, sparse electro beats and atmospheric washes of synths combine to create a shiver inducing John Carpenter-esque atmosphere.

Closer to home fellow Calais producer Numérobé takes things in a completely different direction, turning in a stuttering techno version, that glitches and spins off in increasingly abstract and uncertain directions. Likewise longtime friend of Huleux and Di Falco, Samaran, also twists the original into a quirky new minimal shape, upping the tempo and letting the track spin off in unexpected directions.

Completing the new versions of Birdcage, You Man provide one of their own, an adaptation of their own live version of the track that turns up both the tempo and well, everything as they tweak the track's melody and those marimba-like synths pushing the track into full on euphoria. Of course once you're up you have to eventually come down, and a gentle descent is provided by Des Jonquilles, who provides a delicate, dream like cover version of Birdcage, transforming it into a sublime solo piano song.

There obviously was always more to the EP than just Birdcage, and the other tracks get a word in too. Parisian DJ Sara Zinger transforms Get The Funk into an ultra-tight, ultra-efficient techno workout, Molecule reworks Restless into an 8 minute burner, that constantly, thrillingly, threatens to spill over into chaos but adroitly walks the line and finally Poïka gives Confusion a hard-edged makeover, all staccato metallic stabs, menacing low end growls, pounding drums and chopped up samples before an unexpectedly funky bass line kicks the track into another gear.

Biography

Like other duos, such as Daft Punk or The Chemical Brothers, Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco have been inseparable since they first met at their Calais high school in 1996, bonding over trips across the Belgian border to continue their education at Ghent's legendary warehouse parties. Now under the identity You Man, all their years of learning have enabled the two producers to find their own unique sound which they call "Club Wave", a heady mix of electro club, new wave melodies and dark, deviant and hypnotic disco grooves.
