Up and coming Mexican artist Ademarr joins Roam Recordings with two originals to form the Cannibal EP. The title track combines guitars, echoes of voices, and dark stylish electronic rhythms into a driving dance floor mover. To The West is an aptly named tune that weaves live bass, guitar twangs, and harmonica into a futuristic Western soundscape. Up first on remix duty is Zombies in Miami that take Cannibal deeper into hypnotic territory with the expert dance floor touch of their live shows. Javi Redondo takes To The West into more chilled out territory with arped out synthesizers and congas perfect for an epic daytime jam session.

Ludviq, producer and DJ originally from Guadalajara, makes his debut on Maleante Records with his new EP entitled Serendipia, which he describes as the lucky, valuable and unexpected discovery that occurs accidentally or by chance.

Our space disco cosmonaut Delahay (@delahaysound) returns to Sprechen (@sprechenmusic) with some yet another offering of cosmic licked dance music grooves from the far reaches of his studio in Bristol (which we still think sounds like it should be in Norway!).

Good Gone Bad pumps up the pumpiness and goes straight to the intergalactic disco with plenty of driving bass line action & delay drenched synth stabs all sat alongside a persistent drone bass/synth weird sounding thing for added mega-ness!

Sacred Life is a somewhat sombre affair but still packing plenty of spaced out synth action & stabs to take you to the outer reaches and whilst not totally ‘heads down’ it’s defo a more “ooooft this is hefty’ type of vibe.

It’s a Sprechen love inn on the remix front as our recent family addition Elliott Lion tackles Sacred Life and drops a dubby house style makeover with a lush piano drop and acid style drives. After a top as heck debut E.P. Muddy Feet teams up with our man Massey to remix Good Gone Bad and gives us an a warp factor acid house style banger which goes like a locomotive out the blocks with a SERIOUS breakdown & drop that will cause mayhem at 4am on the dancefloor!

Veteran producer Paco Buggin aka Silicodisco is back on Espacio Cielo. After his solid debut on the Spanish powerhouse, which counted with the collaborations of Franz Scala and Etane, this time he partnered with Rastro Live honcho, Xácome (FREEDL037), to bring to life “Dual Sintonia”, a colourful EP featuring an Italo-Disco-meets-New-Wave-meets-Dark-Disco atmosphere. On the remix duties, none other than Adrian Marth (SXDNS188), Italo Moderni’s boss, and Parissior (SXDNS206), Espacio Cielo’s iron fist owner.

The 5-track EP showcases the versatility of not only the main artists but also the remixers. It depicts an interesting concoction of influences and soundscapes which faithfully represent the true identity of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene: Pluralism.

Premiered here, “Tokyo” brings the Madrid-based artists depicting the Japanese capital through Retrowave-inspired synth leads, groovy percussive elements, and a mortal-like-a-Samurai acid layer. Kudos! If this is a one-time-only or perennial partnership, we really don’t know, but the outcome of this rendezvous left us wishing for more.

Bogota’s Kaputt club offshoot, Kaputt.wav announces ‘Kaputt.wav Vol. III - The Bonfire’ featuring Iñigo Vontier, Theus Mago, Mytron and more.

Boasting a range of local talent such as ‘Calypso Records’ label boss Iñigo Vontier, ‘Duro’ co-founder Theus Mago and ‘Hard Fist Records’ head honcho Tushen Raï and Neskeh, ‘The Bonfire’ serves up a plethora of unique music rooted in the darker realms of disco and electro.

Iñigo Vontier sets the tone with a glitched out, mind-bending cut in ‘Prado’. Alejandro Paz, Nuclear Digital Transistor & Kabinett explore the musical spectrum further with the percussive, punchy ‘Monolito’, while Tushen Raï & Neskeh’s ‘Tsé Tsé’ and Mytron’s ‘Más Ramas’ blur the line between techno, disco and electro.

Drifting from the psychedelic, tripped out sounds of Scadta & The Virginia Valley’s ‘The Sky Is Empty’ to the more energetic, sonic ‘Camina Conmigo’ from Alvaro Cabana & Julian Sanza, this melting pot of talent makes for a dynamic EP.

Kaputt.wav is the record label of Bogota’s Kaputt club, a venue at the heart of the city’s underground scene as well as playing host to occasional international DJs such as Bradley Zero and Moscoman. Despite the challenges and weirdness of the year, boundary-blazing bandoleros Duro (@durolabel) continue to shoot through 2020, all-pistols-blazing. Releases have fired from all corners but one of the strongest themes has been the ‘Muy Duro’ volumes. The Mexican label’s flagship V/A series, each EP digs deep into the dark disco psyche, celebrating the label’s widest sonic outposts and reference points with friends and shared spirits from across the world, old and new. Marking a year of the series, with tracks from Israel to Istanbul, ‘Muy Duro Volume 5’ is certainly no exception.

Veteran cosmic groover Tim Paris makes his long-awaited debut with the slouching funk and broken drum swagger of ‘Better Slightly Unchanged’ before two more collaborations join the party with their Duro debuts, all hailing from Israel; Middle Sky Boom and AckerMan whisk us through the stars on ‘Temp Goes High’ while Rina X Benji pay homage to mind alteration on the electroid bumps and asteroid grinds of ‘Koshmaro’.

Professional belly dancers and long-time friends of Duro Hanzo & Yaman follow with ‘Hokus Pokus’. A springy, playful slab of house music laced with pitched bells and a riser that teases and teases, there’s a late 90s/early 200s mischief to this that, like the label itself, just won’t quit. 

The final word comes from the label bossman Theus Mago (@theusmago) and French brother-in-arms Id!r (@idir-wm)… And that word is techno. Deep bleeps and endless pulsations, ‘Soft Light’ is an epic moment of pure late night hedonism that sits somewhere between Bobby Peru and Plastikman. Blazing boundaries and still fully loaded, the Duro bandoleros keep on shooting.
