Luca Schiavoni Obsessive music purveyor, avid record collector and regular radio face, Luca hosts his E2-E8 show on East London’s Netil Radio, where he showcases new music he is into and invites new artists and record players, mainly from the local scene. He recently turned E2-E8 into a record label, with the first two releases out in 2021.

In this mix, Luca rediscovered many forgotten gems of the Italian house music scene of the early 90s, fittingly labelled as ‘Dream House’ due to its spaced-out and expansive sound. Spanning across 75 minutes, the mix features many of the biggest names of Italy’s scene of that time – from Leo Anibaldi to MBG, as well as Ivan Iacobucci, Gemolotto, and the late, unforgettable Claudio Coccoluto.

From 2001 to 2006 I lived Tokyo, drawn to Japan by films and music indelibly imprinted on my young mind. After a few years I gained a little proficiency in the language, mostly learned by hanging out with friends in Shimokitazawa and transcribing Nishioka Takashi and Happy End lyrics. I’m overdue for a trip back, but this gorgeous mix of Japanese private press acid folk compiled by Tyler Craft is taking me right there. Tyler has been collecting these fugitive, often hand-made releases for over a decade and last year co-founded the label First and Last to reissue these unjustly overlooked sounds, for the most part ignored in Japan as well. This mix combines a few deep cuts from his favorite artists with some intriguing new arrivals. Subarashi desu.

We’re back with another Seaside returnee and someone who always puts in a shift, whether playing in or out. It’s perhaps best that Finn himself explains this one. 

"I contributed a mix for the cherished Mnml Ssgs in 2012 which consisted mainly of fast paced Detroit Electro tunes. The main reason was that I had never done a mix like that and Chris Hobson from the blog had not hosted one yet either. Another reason was that I was working at Hard Wax then and often overheard people in the store disrespecting the genre, mostly because they claimed the sound palette of Electro was too limited to really matter in terms of musicianship. I did not agree with that. 

Anyway, we went for it and the mix became surprisingly popular. In fact it is probably the most played mix I have ever done. And I have done quite a few… More recently I purchased a lot of Electro that was equally fast paced, but with a Disco and Funk flavour. I thought it would be an interesting idea to add some tunes that did not fit the first time round, and do a sequel. Hosted within a mix series of a comparable quality, like Seaside. So here it is. I hope you like it.”

3 hours of me spinning 100% vinyl ~ some pop, some club, Italo, easy blends,

Captured on the 22.03.25 at Doka (Amstersdam), which has a very DJ comfortable booth. Play time was from around 3am-6ish.

This live recording is my first in at least 5 years - I’ve always struggled with the concept of DJing without a crowd/dance-floor so for my usual mix output I “record” in Ableton. I also enjoy “mixing” on the sofa as horizontal as possible so go figure.
