A Bourree is an old type of french dance popular during the rein of Louis the XIV. This composition was never meant to be danced to and was originally written for the lute. However is incorporates rhythmic elements of this dance, hence the name.  It is a classical guitar standard and one which took me a week to learn how to play and perform at the proper tempo.

I recorded this on my phone while in a practice room at the college I'm attending.

Green Shoes Studios in Peoria had received a written submission for a songwriting contest from a 96 year old man named Fred Stobaugh. The story behind the song and the generosity of the studio involved was beautiful to witness. They're Less then one hour from my place! Honored to have such good people in this area.

This is played in what I imagined would be a style my mom would like and  dedicated to my mom's miscarriage, which she had named Cassandra Marie, named after one of her college roommates. 

I often think that she played Clair De Lune all these years for her.
