DEMO - Anything For You

DITD is a performance based project that aims to show the raw and unfiltered moments of a creative process. 

The project consist of a series of single song recordings, each recorded completely on an IPad in a single sitting. These impromptu performances were woven into the private moments of the day, written and recorded in living rooms, porches, gardens, and bathrooms in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand between 2011-2013. Each track exists as the one and only recording / performance of the song without any of the adjustments, effects, or fancy editing that makes up so much of today's recorded music. 

The project was conceived as a way of overcoming the paralyzing fear that comes from putting yourself (or your creations) out there for all to see in a world where flaws are air brushed and edited away. By creating a simple criteria, the pressure to create something "perfect" was relieved so that the creative process could be fully explored: 

"As an artist I was petrified by the quest for excellence. I just couldn't move forward with this unrealistic standard in the back of my mind at all times. What would happen if I just created, without worrying about the outcome or the caliber of the art I was making? This project is my way of breaking through that wall, and this is the result. 

These are the first and last performances of each song, there were no rehearsals, no second-takes, no planning, and no strategies. Each time I sat down, my goal was simply to create something that I liked - flaws included. I've discovered that the misspoken lyrics, unexpected atmospheric noises, and clumsy rough moments are all part of learning as you go and they are what makes each recording feel alive, dynamic, and real.

The pieces were created without intention to be heard by anyone, however as the project grew I started to understand the merits. From all of the recordings, I've chosen 9 pieces (grouped into 3 parts) that I feel best capture the personal sound I developed over the course of the project as well as the unique qualities that come from working in this spontaneous and unfiltered way."
